If I were Forced to choose, I would choose the R/C. Any woman who forces you to choose between a hobby, something you do in your downtime, and her Obviously has a confidence problem.

If you're addicted and spending too much money, then she has a point. Curb your spending, and she will curb her naggin' I gaurentee that.

If you leave at 6:00 am, and don't come back till midnight, or if you jump out of bed to read this board. Again, shes got a point.

If you are withing your budget, don;t take too much time from your family, and don;t miss work for it. It is a blessing.

My wife loves this hobbie most of all. Let's check uot some others I've done

BAR HOPPING;
$500 easy a month, betting on pool. A lot of money for nothing but a hangover. The good looking woman at the bar, that's another down point (always been faithfull)

Black jack
A short stin and thinking I could count cards and make a buck. $200-$700 a month. Hours and hours sometimes till 6:00am playing too much money and time.

Waterskiing.
Lots of time with the fmily, lots of camping, lots of exersices. Lots of time with the kids.

Downside, gas at $60 a day for the boat, not counting boat launch fees, vehicle gas, food, and camp site $$

We don't even want to go into performance engines, chips and stereos for the 1./1 car

With r/c I stay at home, work in the living room, she always has access to me. The kids help build and maintain them(lots of time with little ones). If I blow a motor it's $100 for a new one, and I don't need to get it right away. She loves this hobby


Point being if your moderating your time and money she should have no gripe. Would she rather you stay home and drive her nuts? Or stare at the wall with nothing to do and wait for her?

Yeah, This subect brings up a PLEHTHORA of thoughts for me. I agree with your other reamarks for the most part.. I was obvioulsy joking to an extent in my earlier remarks and I don't think of my woman as a piece of meat. The question that Killa posted in itself is a little vague as their's a ton of variables to consider when posting a question to that effect. I would never have to choose as like many hobbies I have, most every women I've been with has understood them for the most part. My girl has a ton of "hobbies" of her own of a less testosterone fuel'd nature..lol. My woman and I also share our hobbies @ times.

Bottom line, If you have a mutual love and respect with your partner, then it shouldn't be a big problem. If it is a huge problem then their's allot of other things one should consider that are probbly not the results of said hobby.

This answer rides a fine line. I love my wife and would give up the r/c's for her BUT there's a reason I won't give it up and that's if she just has a self confidence issue. That would have to be worked out because an r/c is not the cause of the prob.

If it came to me chosing between my girlfrend and my r/c and or 1:1 ... I'd have to cut the girl loose. Here's the reason why ...

1. Any girl that's making me choose will lose because she's not worth the arguements.

2. Any girl that gets jealous of a car (1:1 or r/c) has some issues and isn't worth the effort.

3. Any girl that can't spend time without me and demands my complete attention has issues that can never be worked out.

So, if this girl is nagging you, cut her loose because she's not even trying to understand your hobby. Then again, if you're not spending time with her at all, then you're at fault too. Take a look at the situation, if you're causing the fights then adjust your time to include her. IF you are alrady doing this and she's still nagging ... forget her. Especially if marriage isn't even in the future (in your mind).

Hmmm, Being that I have three R/C's and want a fourth I would give up all but one and if she can't deal with that than I don't know what to say. I mean I think that's a great compromise all togehter.

LOL, A wife isn't something easy to "give up" (especially with kids in the picture) but girlfriends are a dime a dozen. Good sex is better then Nitro but being in a chitty relationship is hell....good sex or not..lol.

Note to all the younger guys on the forum - Wear a jimmy hat for christ sake......the planet is overpopulated as hell. Children are wonderfull when you can afford them.

Give her a choice, A snake or another RC... I currently have only 3 rc's and 5 snakes. Better buy some more rc's.

Amen to that, and well put Diver. I can personally attest to these. I had a *cough cough* psychotic *cough cough * GF once that made it a point to make me choose between her and going flying (back when I was flying R/C alot), on beutiful perfect Saturdays and Sundays. I mean, damn, I was willing to do whatever she wanted in the evening when the sun was down. I even invited her to come to the field and maybe try it herself. But no, it always ended up with me being the bad guy and wanting to go play with the childis R/C's and leaving her alone. Well, that was her view of things. She had all of the things Diver pointed out, and more. She's no longer a part of my life, and I still refer to her as "The Bitch" (and that's the polite version of what I really call her).

But if I had to choose between a GF and R/C, she'd have to be pretty special.

Yeah, if your girl is b*tch*n' about your hobbies. There is probably some other underlying factor there. As long as your are not addicted to it there shouldn't be any problem. She may be right if you:

---Spend so much $$$ on it that you end up not having enough for bills & other necessary stuff.
---Spend so much time on this forum or w/ your R/C & you end up neglecting her.
---Lying to her about stuff such as how much $$$ you spend. (Which shouldn't be an issue to her - as long as you pay the bills.)

Other than that, I don't really see a problem. Every one NEEDS a hobby/sport/downtime activity. It helps keep the sanity & the mind open. It helps define your personality & who you are + keeps you loyal. If you are always w/ your girl & doing everything that she only approves of, then you are not a person, you are merely her puppet...


So you should step back and analyze your situation. She is probably complaining for a reason other than your RC:
--Maybe she doesn't have any hobby/activity for her to relieve some of her frustrations or to just clear her mind.
--Maybe she is a golddigger & wants you to spend that hop-up $$$ on her.
--Maybe she gets a kick out of keeping you down & possessing you.
--etc......
