I just have to say something. My girlfriend hates this hobbie,. We been together for 8 years and she told me yesterday that it is childish, well the fight was on after that comment. But she dont know that she would end up dead if i didnt have this hobbie,LOL. just kidding about that comment, but we would fight a lot more. I just want to know if anyone else has a problem like this. (with there girlfriend or wife.) and if you do how do you handle it.
Thanks

My fiancee thinks I spend too much money on it, but she actually doesn't hate it. She knows it's what keeps me from going insane, and it calms me down when I've had a bad day.
Wether she thinks it's childish or not, she should respect what you enjoy doing. You're not out stealing or doing drugs (I hope) so what's the harm? I'm sure she has something that she enjoys doing, what's wrong with you having something too?

Keep dat pimp hand strong and keep it freshly baby powdered up. Just tell here no, and the discussion is over period. Then ignore her when she says anything again. It will stop.

HumboldtBlazer- loving that comment "Keep dat pimp hand strong and keep it freshly baby powdered up"

My question would be to you....what hobbies or things that she does, that you feel doesn't make sense. I would say she is the childish one to knock you down for something you enjoy. a relationship works when both of you have something to call your own. Something that both of you enjoy doing away from each-other. A mutual respect for the things that each of you enjoy is how to make things work, That is just my

Does she wear makeup? Tell her you think it's childish of her to always pretend like she's someone else and untill she can be happy with herself she shouldn't judge you and your hobby.

That always goes over good for me.... not really but good luck trying HAHA.

That'll definately get him a few nights on the couch.

My wife doesn't hate the fact that I am into this hobby. She just hates the fact that it costs so much. I used to hide any purchase that I made but not anymore. I told her that it's basically a hobby that I like and that it's my own money I'm spending. I'm not taking money out of the grocery fund or any other expense fund that we may have. AND that fact that everything is bought in cash and not on credit card, is kinda like a slap in the face ... hmmm, I wonder why!?! Besides, I asked her, "What do you want me to do, spend it on my R/C or my 1:1's?"

I think the ting she really hates is when my brother is home. Reason being is because we, my brother and I, would head out the door with our r/c's in tote and she won't see us for the rest of the day.

This is my suggestion to you, tell your gf to get over it because it's a hobby that makes you happy. If she can't get over it, take a walk. If she wants to spend more time with you, tell her to come along and at least try to understand why you love it so much. If she still thinks it's childish, then she's not worth the fight.

No matter what your hobby, whatever it is, it will keep you happy. I love to go fishing, r/c's, and my cars and you know what? My wife knows that it's my passion and accepts it since she knows that's where my happiness is. That's the key, she has to know that everything you do is NOT all about her!

BTW, how old is she anyway?

I totally agree with this and well said bro..

My biggest question to the original poster with no disrepect is, How old are you and your girl?? I ask this as being 16 vs. 25 can be substantially different when it comes to relationships in general...lol. An good relationship is based on a platform of mutual respect for EVERYTHING as MSLY pointed out. My girl knows that I have a plehtora of hobbies (most of which make allot of noise..lol) but she loves me and knows that I'm a man.

EDIT- Spending UBER ammounts of money on the RC hobby in genreal is much more productive then blowing your wad on a day of shopping..hehe.

Peace

My wife encourages it actually. I'm just in it to have fun and she knows it. I've spent a lot, but if it wasn't spent on this, it would be something else. Besides, it gives her all sorts of options when birthdays, christmas, aniverseries come around. Until I picked up this hobby, she was always annoyed at the fact that I didn't really need or want anything.

But now, with a maxx, I can always use a hop-up. Or a replacement part.

She gets jewelry, I get shiny new hop-ups. Even trade in our book.

My wife supports it also. Yeah she sometimes wishes that it didnt cost much, but she dont care how much I spend. She goes out and spends loot on makeup. I could bitch about that 8 to 10 dollar lipstick or that powder tan poop that she puts on her face but I dont. It should work both ways because that how a relationship should work.

Ok holy sh!t, I just LOVED that pimp remark. AMAZING man, just amazing:clap:

I know guys my age that spend more at the bar in a week, then I spend all month on R/C poop... My wife doesn't always agree with the money spent, but she does agree that it keeps me out of trouble...lol

To true for many people bro. Lets be honest, bars and clubs area expensive as sin (LOL). I've got lots of friends that spend an average of $300+ a month @ bars. Chit, we can blow well over 500+ just on drinks and club covers in a week in Miami. I'd rather spend my hard earned dough on RC.

Check this out...

Men if you had to make a choice, if you had to give one up,what

would it be: the hobby or the woman?

this should be interesting.......

HA HA.....Come on dude. This has got to be a rhetorical question for many but it depends on the woman said person is with I guess.. For I, I love nitro RC but I love Titties, ass and pus#y allot more so I'd give up the nitro and move on to another hobby.

Peace

Have to give up RC. My wife has been there for me when I was headed for the shitter. If it wasn't for her, I would still be druggin all the time and probably be dead. Every man has a grip about there ole lady, but I am sure that every one wife has been there for them, thats why they married them. RCs can be replaced but a good, truthful wife can't be. They are hard to come by anymore.

That's it? Crimony that was a night for me back in the day. My favorite bar tab was $1300, it was definately worth it until the next morning...

DAMN BROTHA...

We managed a $2000.00 bar tab in Miami one night between four friends (that doesn't include a tip of course). It was an awesome time and worth every penny but I don't have a movie stars income to do that on a regular basis.hehe. It's kind of insane to spend that kind of money in a club even when you can. Paying $200 a bottle for Grey Goose vodka is rediculous. I don't think we got out of bed until the morning after the next morning..lol.
