Hello. I got myself a new engin for my serpent 966, but the flywheel is so damn hard to spin that i burned out the rubber on the starter wheel in no time... Got a normal 1:8 serpent starter with two electric engins so i thought it would be nps to get it starting.

This is my first new engin so my q is: is it normal that they are so hard to get going at first?

Loosen the glow plug so some of the compression can bleed off while it's spinning. As soon as it starts, spin it in with the ignitor, then tighten it for the break in process.
What you're dealing with is normal on some new engines.

Pre-heat the engine with a heat gun or a hair dryer. Things will expand inside and make it easier to start as well. If pre-heating it still makes it hard, then loosen the glow plug a little bit and tighten it once it's running like Rolex said above...but the pre-heating is a VERY important part to help things fire up without too much wear on the internals.
