Just for general fun, nothing too serious. I live in AZ, so mostly open desert dirt use and neighborhood ripping. Maybe some Glamis sand seasonally.

Is the XMAXX significantly larger than the Losi?

Is it your first RC?

I would go for the Losi.

My xmaxx had lots of tire issues stock and 2x 8s battery’s is going to be ~200 range.

open desert dirt XMAXX
neigborhood ripping LOSI

i would buy both if i was you actually

You will have most fun then.
Both are awsome rigs.

These things can wear out parts, or if you crash,
one car is not enough because of this.

You need 3-5 rigs / cars to be able have fun always.
Then you dont need stress find new parts and wrench same day because you have other rigs to play with.
You can calm down, order your parts, wait for them to arrive in mailbox or at local shop.
then mount them when it rains outside

Hurry to hobby shop, buy cars, this hobby is awsome.

You live only once. ENJOY AND HAVE FUN , always drive fast , big toys for big boys

the smart way is to buy Arrma 6s rig , drive it 4s in neighborhood. Typhoon 6s buggy is fun in neighborhood on 4s

and one xmaxx

you only need buy 4s lipos then, and they fit both cars.

6s Arrma on 4s is BULLETPROOF , you will have a car that LAST run after run.

Then the big bad ass XMAXX , they are awsome in the desert. a must have

yeah open desert , guys you know u need xmaxx with paddle wheels, 8s is minium at open deserts

i would go kraton 8s roller with max4 12s and

Overview
This is a pair of Dumont Paddle Sand/Snow Tires Mounted on Raid 5.7" Black Wheels . Are you ready for the most extreme Paddle tires Pro-Line has ever made for Monster Truck? Introducing the Dumont 5.7" tires that have been designed from the ground up for your X-MAXX® and KRATON™ 8S to sling sand and snow further than ever before and look good doing it!

The Dumont 5.7" tire uses the latest in paddle tread technology with large offset V-shaped paddles for maximum roosting power. Pro-Line P-L logos have been embedded into the tire carcass giving it the style that you have come to expect from Pro-Line. The Dumont Paddle tire gets its name from the incredible Dumont Sand Dunes in California, but these paddle tires are equally at home shredding your local snowfield in the winter.

The Raid 5.7" Black Wheel features a 24mm hex with the standard 1/5 scale through-hole to fit most 1/5 scale vehicles and includes machined aluminum wheel washers to fit onto the popular X-MAXX® platform. Inspired by popular full-size off-road wheels, the Raid 5.7" wheel is extremely tough and has the bold style to match. The Dumont Paddle tires are glued to the big diameter Raid wheel for the ultimate in lightweight performance. This tire and wheel package is proudly manufactured at Pro-Line Headquarters in the USA!
Don't get stuck spinning your tires in the sand or snow. Get a set of pre-mounted Dumont Paddle tires for your X-MAXX® or KRATON™ 8S Truck today!

Pro-Tip:
When running your Pro-Line Tires in Water, Mud, or Sand foreign materials can enter the Tire. If this occurs, the foam Inserts can begin to break down and the tire can become excessively heavy or unbalanced, causing unnecessary wear. Placing a piece of waterproof tape (such as Duct Tape) over the Wheel Vent Hole is a quick and easy method of preventing anything from getting inside Your Tires.

Please note: All tires & wheels are sold in pairs, unless otherwise noted

I'm not sure my opinion is very valuable here as I have no experience with the hammer rey but I do have an Xmaxx and love it. Probably my favorite of all the bashers I have. The factory esc isn't the best but other than that, a pretty tough rig out of the box.

I tend to agree with the above mentioned opinion to get multiple. Regardless of what you get, it will break. I like to have several so when one is waiting for parts, I just play with another one.

yeah you need several rigs to avoid bad days and stress

A lot of great info in here, thank you guys.

My buddy had an XMAXX that we ripped out in Glamis last season and it was an absolute blast, which is what stemmed the idea behind getting one of those and into this hobby in general. We sent that thing off of a 30ft dune prob 30x’s before a wheel finally snapped off of it. I saw Losi’s Hammer Rey, and being a KotH fan it really enticed me off of the look, it’s kickass. It’s hard not to add one as a showpiece for the garage. But, if something else makes more sense I’m all for it. The Kraton does look like a fun toy as mentioned. Do any of these things ever go on sale, or coded promo? I’d be reluctant to buying any of this stuff used.

Some sales this year, Horizon had 10% every other month it seems like.

Arrma 6s line is pretty solid, I personally like the Mojave 6s rtr, not a great jumper but it is great fun on the ground.

Horizon hobby and the likes (tower, amain} have sales frequently on the Arrma and Losi stuff but I hardly ever see the Xmaxx on sale.

I have the 1/5 Arrma Outcast as well (shorter wheel base version of the Kraton) and its pretty comparable to the Xmaxx. A little bigger and heavier but otherwise similar.
