This little monster cause ground crews to puke during run ups and test. When flying it could be heard for miles away, some say heart attacks happened, and expecting mothers popped out their offsprings early. Yes it was a monster, guess the sinister bird.

I'm getting old, I'm pretty sure it's a Skyraider variation. I think a Skyshark?
Forgetting stuff I used to know, I know it was an Xplane but can't remember if I have the name, right or what it's designation was. I have a ton of aviation books, always loved military aircraft. Maybe I need to hit the books for a refresher course. 🤣

If you zoom in, it does say Skyshark under the cockpit.

Well duh! now I feel really dumb. I didn't zoom in. At least I got the name right. still can't remember the designation other than X something. I could have gone to the other room and looked at my books but that would have been cheating.

That’s a sweet arse plane. I love planes! But white knuckle flyer. It’s Xanax and Bloody Mary’s for a 6 am flight. And don’t wake me if we’re going down. I know the screaming won’t! 😂

Now there is another horrid bird the airforce got rid of its on display in the Air Force Museum in Ohio, its called the ThunderScreech! Half Jet half turbo prop. This one is mega awesome also. You have a image of the thunder screech, put it up, thats one funky bird.

That's one I haven't seen before. :thumbs-up:

You made me look it up! 🤣

A turboprop is a type of jet engine. All jet engines use a mixture of combusted fuel and air to produce exhaust. The main difference is how that exhaust is used. In a turboprop, the exhaust powers a propeller to generate thrust. In a standard jet engine, the exhaust gas is used to generate thrust.

XF-84 thunder screech. Just found the call sign.

This monster had 2 jet engines in it, 1 for thrust at the rear, 1 shaft driven to spin the prop, both were spinning at the same time..X in the title means experimental.

Wouldn't the propeller just slow it down when the jet engine is being used?
2 engines, 1 spun the prop via shaft, the other used thrust, it made a very loud noise and folks barfed near it also.
