This thing is freaking awesome the only thing is I can't tell if it is shifting

Can someone help on the not shifting
Thanks :hehe:

Follow the hpi tuning breakin vids on youtube.
Break in usually takes a full gallon, watch your temperatures and keep your filter clean.
Consider a Spektrum DX3s for telemetry.

Savage X rocks...

Huh? Where's a question on telemetry?
It doesn't need a full gallon before it will shift. As you start to lean it and tune for performance you should definitely hear the shift point. Let us know.

I only mentioned telemetry as it has temperature readout included...
Break-in was mentioned, that takes a good gallon to do a complete job in many opinionated owners minds. But yeah, shifting should be heard during tune...

Do you think the settings for the shift point are to early for gears

1-2

Making it harder to hear the shift point

And to late for the third gear making it not shift at all

How much fuel do you have thru the motor?

Is your 5.9 sealed up to prevent air leaks?

Also you should not start tuning with a full tank. HTL is a problem with the stock fuel tank. Guys tune when full and when th tank gets below half it leans the motor out jackin up the tune. So fill to just below half way then tune. This will greatly help in the long run. It may be rich at first but rich is better than lean.

I have the XL and you have to be over 200 for it to shift into third gear. I usually run the high speed at around 1.5 turns past the groove, mid range is about a half turn out from flush and the low is about a quarter turn in from flush. I live in Buffalo and I run 20% nitro. What fuel and percentage are you running?

Don't even bother with the telemetry, the temp gauge is not even accurate, mine was off by nearly 20 degrees.

MudSlinger,
You can always use a temperature guage with it.
Set your temperature alarm 20* higher or lower than where it reads for your correct alarm setting then.

Then you are atleast calibrated for what it does read, even if it's actually off a few degrees plus or minus.

I dont like the spektrum, The telemetry sucks and so does the range. If you want a good high end radio look at Futaba or Airtronics IMO.

As for shifting 90% of the time its the tune that affects it and if you are still within the first 6 tanks of doing breakin I wouldnt even worry about it.

Until the engine is fully broken in don't worry about the transmission shifting. I wouldn't worry about an onboard temp gauge. just get a good handheld and check the temp at the plug.

Thanks, you guys I think I got it now it was just needing a little Tunning work on the engine and the transmission so I think I got it thanks
