Well I got an airbrush kit for my birthday and I can't wait to paint my first lid. I've been practicing and getting the feel for the brush on cardboard. I guess an airbrush kit isn't what most kids want for their 15th birthday but I love it. I also don't think many of them now a days know how to work on and understand anything like a nitro car. Well I guess that's whats I get for being raised by a pretty much mechanic. Well thanks for reading.

Happy Birthday.
Good for you, wanting to do things for yourself. That's a joy that starts early in life and just keeps getting better. The more you can do, the more you'll enjoy.

Awesome and happy bday! I was looking at them yesterday at the local crafts stores when went to pick up some model car kits. A little to much money for me right now, but the look like a fun thing to have.

I'm addicted. There's also a cheap Badger spray gun and a Paasche not in the pic.

I want to get an airbrush kit myself. Thinking of starting out with one from harbor freight. Then build from there.

Harbor Freight is OK but understand you get what you pay for. My wife bought me a RTR set in March and it worked well but you will find when you want to do tighter details and be real precise a cheapo isnt going to spray like an Iwata

Understood. But cheap is gonna be a starter. I'm good with a full size gun but never tried my hand at airbrushing. So just like everything else as i better so will the equipment.

Good point. I thought I was a picasso with my first cheapo. With compressor I think she spent $80. Now that I've gotten better I've invested in an Iwata that Rolex told me about and its night and day. Learning on the cheapo made the quality gun that much better!

Yep. Same with auto paint guns. You can get a knock off for less than $50 but after you spray with it and then you use a Davilbiss HVLP. You are very willing to go out and spend up to $400 on one. Maybe even $650. Where did you get the one rolex recommended and how much was it if you dont mind me asking?

Don't forget the good compressor! I started off with a cheap gun then a cheap utility compressor I rigged to a air tank to reduce pulsing. (Dear God the Noise). Then I upgrade the airbrush but didn't change the compressor. I was like wow this brush is amazing. Then I finally took the plunge and picked up a nice actual airbrush compressor with an air tank and boom everything clicked. It was great.

Here is the one I'm thinking of getting for starters. Believe it or not I've got a wish list as big for tools as i do for RC rigs.

Thanks for the link Rolex! I'm definitely diggin on the devillbiss sets! I'm a believer in that name brand of paint guns. I had two that were both stolen from me after i got out of the auto body paint line of work. I wish i still had em though.

They also have every accessory you'll ever need for any kind of spraying. I have quick release couplers on all my airbrushes, so one line instantly pops off and clips to the next gun.
That small compressor is almost identical to one I use for quick jobs, but I've stepped up to a 3 gallon 2 horse unit to run the big guns. My last big compressor was stolen along with some of my spray guns.

Damn thieves!! I wish i could find the guy that stole my devillbiss guns. Also stole my mucci m7 12 mm shaft pearl inlaid pool cue. A $750 cue at that. Broke into my car in my fenced in front yard one night and got it all.
