You can go DSM, and that would eliminate the need for a longer antenna wire. The DSM antenna wires are around 4 inches at the most.

That's true. I forgot that. I have a real short one INSIDE a micro heli. That's on the 2.4 GHz band. Then you'll have NOTHING outside the car.

The Nomadio React has almost no antenna on the car end. The radio has no antenna either....it is ugly thing but it works great. It has almost everything you could ever want on a radio and it is very light. It also comes standard with Transceivers so it has two way communication for things like engine temp, RPM, lap times or battery voltage in the car. Only thing I don't like about it is the battery run time.....it comes standard with a ni-cad pack.

Figure out how much it takes to reach the end of the tube when installed, then coil the rest up in the radio box.

As mentioned, cutting it will reduce range and may promote glitching.

I'm looking at Spektrum's DX3R with their new DSM2 protocol. Anyone have any experience with this? I'm going to find time this week to go down to my lhs and see if my hands like it.

A buddy of mine has the DX3 (old one). Glitch free, long range, but I don't care for the transmitter screen (only one viewable thing at a time) and the 3rd channel is a pain to setup. The DX3R looks nice though.

What about Futaba Megatech 3PM FASST 2.4ghz Spektrum Edition?
I was thinking of getting that. What do you guys think?

a few guys over on HBF have the 3PM and love it. simple use, good amount of adjustments, over most others, 2.4. signal and rx batt failsafe setup!!
and under 200.00 for the TX/RX which is well priced imo.

Yeah because i was thinking of getting it for my Savage X 4.6. Can you get just the receiver and transmitter?

I have the Spektrum DX 3.0 and have had no glitching and it has great range. The 3rd channel is kind of wonky to set and use, but most of the time I only use 2-channels. The DX-3 works well with both my nitro and electrics.

Well ended up going with the M11. Got a great deal for it $250 with Spektrum DSM Tx module and Rx. I was thinking about the DSX3.0 but figured that the more I got into racing I would probably want to upgrade later on. Thanks for the help!
