I'm looking for a truck that i can drive around my house or around a hotel room/lobby. I'm new to electric but i know wat brushless motors and esc's are. i want something like a staidum truck or truggy. no buggies or MTs. it has to be fast and durable and not need constand maintence(ie. broken parts) any suggestions??

EDIT: Pleas no more than $250

Have you considered the Losi mini beetle thing. It comes from the factory in a RTR kit with a lipo battery. I don't know much about them but Lessen has one and the pics of him building his ramp inside and jumping it are sweet, even made me want to get one.

i have the micro t and that thing is a trip! its pretty quick stock and with a few hoppups its killer! they also have a baja truck and the beetle mentioned above.

There's also the RC18 series.

1/10th might be a little big for indoors, but have a look at the RC10T4 and B4 by Associated. They come in RTR format.

yeah 1/10 is waaaay too big for indoors, especially a hotel room. I find that 1/18 is even too large for a modest living room. My Micro DT is hands down the most fun vehicle I have for inside the house. Hook it up with Lipo and a brushless motor and it's about as good as it gets within confined spaces.

side note- I wonder if Losi will come out with foams for them????

I'm gonna say this and I'm really really not trying to sound like a peepee. the hotels i stay at....we stay in first class suites and my house is pretty big. again I'm not trying to sound like a peepee. so 1/10 is fine.

i had a mini lst which is 18th scale.. my house was 2600+ square feet and i never drove it because there just wasn't enough room. the micro is perfect for indoors. you wont even get 1/4 trottle out of a 1/10th before having to shut it down.

A 1/10 rc indoors will have a lot of broken parts...I don't care how big your house is. Add brushless to it and a mansion will be too small.

i dunno. I tried my tmaxx in my house (confined space+poisonus exhaust=bad) anyways i had no trouble doing burnouts on the tile floor. but i live in a rather small house and I got it to shift once. I think 1/10 is fine.

Well I think this argument could go either way, regardless of house size depending on floor plan layout, furniture layout, etc... But even with one of the houses I have with a rather large layout, I would have A LOT more fun with a 1/18 scale than a 1/10th scale. But that's just an opinion.

ahh.. gotcha. no offense taken. I just figured you were referring to the average room.

At any rate, I still honestly don't think 1/10 is suitable for indoors but I suppose I'd have to actually see where you are running to truly understand your circumstances. But certainly if you have a pretty large area to run in a 1/18 scale would be ideal. Even with a hot setup you may be able to stretch it's legs depending on the space. 1/18's are great since you can get the same speed as a 1/10 but much tighter turning radius. It's just more realistic all in all. :2cents:

I just bought a Losi Mini-T and a 7.2v pack and that thing pulls wheelies easy.

It's more than quick enough for the house or hotel. Being that it is rear wheel drive only it can snap turn really easy on carpet so I'm able to move it around tight areas with ease. The cats love it. There are also a lot of hop-ups for it, my friend had one with the mamba brushless competetion motor in it and he couldn't even control it so there are plenty of things out there to make it too fast period.

I haven't clocked mine, but I'm more than happy with the speed with the 7.2v pack. I wasn't too pleased using my 2500mah rechargable AA's though. They ran a long time, but not as much power as with the pack. Only down side is that it gets hot quicker.

1/18 scale is way sick for indoor driving...think of it this way, yes you could drive 1/10 scale in a large house, but you wouldn't have the excitement of manuevering it through many obstacles.....a standard track 1/10 scale is about 100 x 70 ft......you can drop that to around 70 x 30 for a 1/18 scale....I freakin LOVE my RC18MT...you have a shitload of option parts...adn they are MUCH easier to travel with over 1/10 scale (you were looking at portability right)....you can carry everything for it in a small carry-on size on bag.......1/10 scale is harder to make obstacles out of indoor items but you can stretch a heavy hotel comforter over a couch and voila' you have a mountain to play with......
just a few key points to consider if you are looking for an indoor rig

I have the RC18t and with foams it's a lot of fun in the house. I can drive it in the living room if I keep the throttle EPA set down low. It's a lot of fun.

Like everyone was saying though, a 1/10 scale is way too big for inside unless you're in a freakin' airport with a long ass hallway :D

If anyone is interested, Team Associated has the RC18B, RC18T, and RC18MT on sale for $135 refurbished. It appears to be trucks that showed up at the hobby shop missing a piece in the box or something like that, so the hobby shops send them back, they inspect them and fix the problem, and sell them with a guarantee. I didn't know about this offer before so I thought I'd throw it out there for the members who might be interested.

When I got mine, it was missing a spring perch on one shock. A fax to Associated and a couple days later, I had it in the mail, free of charge.

Ok.ok. Thanks to boutch and his pic on the first page I've decided to buy one of those. Wich one was it?? Besides motor and batteries what hop ups can you get (wheels, tires). BTW my original plan was get like a rustler or E-Firestorm so I can drive it through the halls to the parking lot and stuff but that's whatt I have the savage for (not for indoors)
