hi all,

i have a problem that is confusing me. my glow plugs keep burning out. I thought i had it tuned correctly but apparently not. I go through a glow plug a day it seems.

when i take out the glow plug, there is a thin coat of oil on the bottom of the plug, which from what i hear is a good sign. further inspection reveals that the coil inside the plug is melted and thus the plug will not lite and it is bad.

I also noticed the faintest color of blue around the plug, but only in one small spot, does this mean I am running a bit lean? this confuses me because I run at factory setting 4 turns out hsn and 1.75 turns out lsn

Yep, you're leaning out too much. If you're at factory setting you may have an air leak to trace down. In this situation,I'd go ahead and seal the engine and check the tank/cap and lines.

Get a temp gun and watch the temps - they'll give you an indication of what's going on!

The color you're seeing could be the 'fingerprint' of the fuel you are using, as in the pic here.

lol i love the color of the fuel =p:D Also i love that clean truck! lol:hehe:

and for the question. I think your running it too lean. Also, as said above, i would seal the engine and start from there =)

:hehe: That one used to run hard, daily. I'm pretty sure I was running Blue Thunder fuel at the time, and it left that transparent green. That's a sign of an engine that's tuned correctly.

lol =p but it still looks nice. i use sidewinders =p really good fuel =) my axial .28 loves it =p:D:hehe:

Glow Plugs

It could be your tuning along with some weak glow plugs.
We only use MERLIN glow plugs, with the proper tuning we get long life out of Merlins glowplugs and they produce more power.:D
Check out their website, and make sure you call them and tell them what you are running, they will guide you to the correct glow plug.:whhooo:
We will never switch to another glow plug after finding Merlin's.:first_place:

Just our 2 cents,Hope this helps.
