Glow plug igniter

hi,

i have the HPI Firestorm 10T nitro car, and i am trying to tune it...

I succeeded to start it and run the first tank of fuel but then it was imposible to start it again. i think the Glow plug igniter is flat although i have charged it
following the instructions.

Can anybody tell me for how long the glow plug igniter can be used before recharging is necessary?

I charge mine maybe once a month... I run typically both saturday and sunday every week.

Take the glow plug out of the engine and put it in the heater to see if it still glows hot. If your outside, you may need to cup it in your hand because it's hard to see in the sunlight.

Is the firestorm pull start or roto? Is this your first nitro?

If the igniter is new the first couple of charges might not last very long. After a couple of cycles it should last longer.

engine start tips

Can anybody give any tips for starting the engine?
I'm new and it takes me ages until I succeed. (usually I don't!!)
Is there any easy way, or I nedd just to keep trying?...

Have you checked the glowplug its self? new engines sometimes eat plugs until they are tuned properly.

Please, don't take anything I type the wrong way. Knowing that it's your first, I want to assume that you may not know about break-in since your having issues starting it and in your original post you say your trying to "tune" it. Usually, by the time you've broken it in and have begun tuning it for performance, you've already ironed out issues with getting it running.

There are quite a few threads about break-in procedures. Most do the heat cycle break in. Search for "heat cycle" and you will find info.

As for starting it, beings it's a pull start, your probably having issues priming the engine. To do this, you can plug the exhaust with your finger and pull the starter until you see fuel go through the lines and reach the carb. Once fuel reaches the carb, stop priming or you will flood it. Put your heater on the plug for 4-5 seconds to give it a chance to warm up a bit, adjust the trim on your radio so the throttle is open a little more than typical idle, then pull the starter.

Make sure you do a break-in process of some sort or you will have a short life for your new engine.

You got it right: I'm new and there millions of things I need to short out... Break-in is the term for what I'm trying to do currently. I will use your tips and I hope I will make it run.
It is exciting though! I love the whole thing, and I'm thankful there are people in the forum willing to help!!!
