I bought my wife a XX-CR, but I can't let her really bash with it, because parts for it are almost impossible to find. She wants something that she can jump, and just overall bash with, maybe even play in the mud. At this point, she's not sure whether she want electric or nitro, but I can teach her the nitro if need be.

What I need, is something that won't easily break, parts are readily available, and is relatively cheap. (Cheap in rc terms, that is). I'd like to get her something new for X-mas, but I do have a Savage roller (25?) that I got from Smaxxin, all I need is to drop in an engine and trans. Thing is, then should I upgrade it to X status at the same time?

So. If I buy a new one, electric or nitro. If so, what's good and cheap at the same time. Or do I build the Savage for her?

How bout a Hot Bodies Lighting Pro Buggy? I got a roller sitting in a box in the workshop I could sell for like $55 shipped ;-) hehe

Slashes are good too....Maybe an EMaxx or TMaxx? Bunch of options really...

Well, if she doesn't know what she wants or if she will really get into it, get something you'd like to have. Then if she bows out, you end up with a rig you want anyway.

Revo is easy as is an e-revo. Since your in WI, a new nitro rig at christmas will suck... winter break-ins usually end with a dead motor and annoying tuning. Will be a crappy time for her to learn nitro.

Getting a slash may suck as well unless you get a 4wd unit and order a set of paddle tires along with it. Again, due to when you want to get it for her, guessing snow will be all over. A 4wd electric MT of some sort would probably be best for that time of year for a newer person.

I'm nitro to the bone, but if I was interested in getting my wife into the hobby, I'd start her out with an electric. If it was winter... I'd definitely start her with an electric something.

I got my wife a associated T4 i went brushless cause its less frustrating and more plug and play she always gave me crap bout workin on my cars.and the nitro is smelly i got here the T4i painted the body candy pink and gun metal gray and put some girly stickers on it and she Loved it lol got some 2s lipos for it she was like a lil kid driven it was some funny poop the T4 has held up to some good bashin only broke a rear a arm so far the savage would be good for her can't go wrong with any model for bashin and part availability

Xmas isn't really an issue. She's expecting to get one come spring, I'm just trying to beat her to it and surprise her. I'm also still toying around with the thought of making the savage roller into an electric truck, hand built, no kit.

I thought about that, but that's $300+, and she wants an mt I think. What I might do, is grab a 3-spd for my savage, drop my 2-spd in the 25, replace the head button on my force .32, drop that into the 25, and clean it up real good. That way, if she loses interest, I have it for parts, if she wants to keep it, I can upgrade it for her, little at a time. Also, with that, if something breaks, I already have most of the parts for it.

I dunno, still very much undecided. At least I have a couple months to decide.

I'm sure you can find a lightly used rig for cheaper then $300, spray her a nice girlie lid, and done.

Lol, she doesn't do "girly". If the lid is pink or purple, she won't like it, and I'll be painting another one.

The only thing girly that she likes is Mustangs.

Ok, so I got her to decide on the electric/nitro. She wants electric. So gimme an idea in the $200 range, that's electric. Btw, brushless might be a little much.

It's hard to not mention the 2wd slash for that price range. A pede or a rusty would be cool too. Parts are cheap, and they take a pretty good beating.

I showed her some options, and she wants the Stampede. If I can save up enough by Xmas, I try get her the VXL. She still thinks she's buying it in the spring.
