Well after moving into our first house in the city two years ago we have decided to relocate to the country. We put an offer on a house today that is in the Santa Cruz Mountains. It is a completely remodeled 3 bedroom, 2 bath two story house on a 36,000 sq ft lot. There is a creek in our backyard and it's located on a private road in a cul de sac. There are beautiful redwoods on the property and it is free of any traffic noise. Nothing but the sounds of wildlife and a slow moving stream when you sit on the deck. The town is a great place to raise kids, small population of about 5,000, and the elementary schools have very high API scores. The locals are very friendly, and it seems everyone knows everyone in town. It's exactly what we were looking for two years ago before we got into our current home but at the time the prices were out of our budget.

We have 30 days to remove contingencies. From what I understand we basically have a month to sell our current house and another 30 days to close escrow. It's going to be a hectic month trying to get the final touches done on our current home and a lot of weekends spent outside the house so that prospective buyers can visit. No time to wrench or race but as soon as we are done moving I'll be back in full force.

Damn bro. Sounds like your plate is not only full but over flowing.

SC mountains is a very nice place to live and it sounds like you have found a great place.

Will you be removing some of those redwoods to put in a track. The wood from the removed trees can be used for the drivers stand. :green-grin:

Thanks Jet. The stars are really going to have to align for us to pull this off.

It's going to be a big lifestyle change that the wife and I are both looking forward to. No plans for a track...yet. But I do see a brushless boat as a future project to run in the creek.

Damn Sam!
Anything we can do to help?

Its going to be a pull to get it all put together in the time frame you have. Good luck to you. Sounds like a great move.

I'm going to need all the help I can get with moving. If you, Rob, and anyone else that is local can help out in any way I would forever be indebted to you.

We'll be having a garage sale in a week or two so there won't be quite as much to move.

If you need any help with heavy lifting or need someone to help move some crap around, send me a pm. San Jose isn't THAT far away...

Of course I will help you move again.

It was a pretty good day helping you move the last time.

Thanks so much for the offer to help guys. I will keep you all posted on the dates as we get further in the process. It is VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!

They'll be in the same box as my "change once a week" underwear. I'm trying out a new method of de-anodizing aluminum.

Good for you, Dommer! I'd be more than happy to help you move, just fly my butt out there and I'll be more than happy to help! I'll just sleep on the floor of Eddy's workshop!

They'll be in the same box as my "change once a week" underwear. I'm trying out a new method of de-anodizing aluminum.

Wrap the anodized aluminum in your underwear for 3 or 4 minutes at MOST. Beyond that, the metal will begin to deteriorate rapidly.

Congrats on getting another piece of the American dream together for the family. I wish you luck.

Good Luck Dom! I wish you the very best of luck. I would love to help you move.... but there are just a few states, the mississippi, the Rockies, and the Moave Desert in between us. LOL Seriously though... if there is anything I can do to help... just let me know. You have always been there to help me. Again.. I wish you the best my friend. It sounds like an awesome adventure.

Tom

Best of luck bro.

Send us all a plane ticket. We're there for ya.

Thanks for the good luck wishes and thoughts guys. We are waiting to hear back for the seller to see if they have accepted our offer. Should know the result by end of tomorrow.

I've got nerve racking stress over whether or not this is the right time to move. Interest rates are sky high right now, and the new loan is about 1.25%greater than what we have right now. Really closes the gap in the cost savings from moving. The plan is to refi as soon as rates drop but there is the uncertainty of when. I keep having to remind myself that the move isn't just about financials but is a nicer place to live and a better place to raise a family.

To hell with the economics I say. Or at least I hope you won't let that stop you. It sounds like a great place to live. Doing it for better conditions for your family is the best reason for a relocation.

Good luck with it. :)

Thanks neobart. I'll do anything to get my family a better place to live and get a solid education, even if I lose a few $$ in the process.

Well the seller just accepted our contingency offer. Wooohoo!!! :breakdown

Our realtor has given us a few tips on what we need to do to get our house sold, which is mostly doing some painting outside, finishing off some of the base boards in the house, and moving stuff out of the garage. We have an open house this Sunday so I'll be super busy the rest of the week.
