General Nitro Questions

I was thinking buggy myself just because running in the dirt/grass would be more forgiving if I lost it.

Yea, that is a good one. It comes rtr, so all you need is fuel. It also has a .18 engine in it. I would say that car will go about 40-50 when tuned right.

Yeah Id DEFINATLY stay away from smarttech. It isnt nicknamed Shittech for nothing. And quite frankly this was the only posotive thing I have ever heard about them. Id say go with the Nitro Tc3. There a great all around car, or if ya get into the buggy scene, check out XTM's buggys. There resonable in price and I've only heard good things about them.

I'll have to agree w/ everyone on the NTC3 but the off road would have to go w/ the RC10GT.....if you don't want a truck then drop the shocks and change the body and front wheels to buggy stuff..........but the truck is pretty cool lookin IMO

and as far as one brand being cheaper than another...they are geared to the person who isn't racing or driving like thay are...it's a cheaply made version of a real racer.....they are fine if you just zoom up and down the street maybe jump over some grass bumps w/ it....don't try clearing a friggin house and you're fine w/ it

I never said I specifically wanted onroad or no trucks. I just want a CHEAP nitro car to mess with and a few people made a good point that grass/dirt ir more forgiving than cement or asphalt if I crash so I might try a low cost nitro offroad before I drop big $ on an NTC3.

Hey, you can change an RC10GT into a buggy? So pretty much the buggy wheels fit on an RC10GT? Please explain. Thanks

You are going to get all kinds of opinions. I hate Duratrax. Don't think I would buy a Smartech.
If ya can afford it go with HPI, Ofna, Associated, Losi... Some of the more known brands. Figure out what ya want, then ask questions about it. Search the forum. If you know of a place near that are running nitros, check out what they like.
You will definitely need a temp guage for tuning. Go easy on the break in, follow the owners manual.

I have an X-term, and a Savage. Both were easy to tune and keep a tune. If ya get on the buggy forum, the x-term is a basher pos and you need to spend a lot more money on one. Don't think anyone can say they aren't tough as nails and the 24/7 is junk. All of the cars have their weak points.

You have been in the hobby long enough that you know what ya want. What would be the next electric you would get? Ask questions and see if the nitro engine it comes with is easy to tune. Been to the airshow? Been 3 times. Wish I could've got to the 100th year of flight. Figure it was awesome! I really get off on the WW1 aircraft, saw they had some replicas flying.

Unfortunately the LHS I know about here has squat for a selection so i'd probably have to order from tower or something. Not much to actually go check out and get the feel of that's why I want cheap above anything. THat way if I don't like it i'm not out much.

I agree...even though I havent really got my rc10gt going yet, just the smell and sound of the engine...I love it.

Serious, don't go cheap. If ya don't know anyone that runs nitro, look at this forum. I bought this car for my kid. http://www.hobbypeople.net/gallery/145610.asp It is cheap. The motor runs great. Easy to tune. easy to work on.

I remember when I bought my xxx-nt 4 years ago at $359. I ended up spending over $400 by the time I left the store due to fuel, glow heater, glow plugs, batteries, charger...

If your bashing Id get a MT or a Buggy. I think stadium trucks are REALLY boring just putsing around with. If your going to race all the time St's are fun, but other than that, they bored the hell out of me.. If ya have more tare around your place, Id get a Ntc3 or a Rs4. Just my 2 dimes.

4u2nv, why couldnt you tell me that before? I bought my RC10GT expecting a lot of bashing fun. You told me that they were good for that.
