Parts are going to start rolling in today and Monday.
I could use some help on aligning the engine gears and the tranny gears.
You can't really see them once their in. I'm sure that since the center gear housing is stationary and the engine is mounted on oblong slots that there is a sweet spot, not to tight, not to loose, so they mesh just right.
I read something about using a piece of paper but didn't really grasp it.
Anyone ,cupooterluvr...Rolex...CTM , you guys did a great job explaining the whole shifting thing. Care to try again??

The ol' paper trick works the best in blind mesh adjustments. Just tear off a thin strip of paper, place between gears, and tighten the mesh accordingly. Once done, simply pull out the paper. It should have a crinkle pattern to it.

If the gearing on the 2-speed is correct, the mesh for both gears should be the same. So just do as HB recommended. Tear off a narrow strip of regular paper. Place it between the spur gears and the clutch bell gears. Slide the engine over until it pushes the paper into the gear teeth. Tighten the engine. Then rotate the gears until the paper comes out. Should give you a nice mesh that's loose enough to let the gears run, but secure enough not to strip them.

Understood.
I'll give it a shot when the gears come in today (I hope).
Thanks.
