RC Driving Style
So I'm gathering info for a purchase guys. What starter box would work well for everything. I'll start of racing a xxxnt, then a 1/8 buggy for sure. I'll also have a monster for bashing. What supporting stuff should I buy. Point me the right way guy's so I'll only have to spend the money once or twice. you know, stuff like bags, tools, whatever. Keep in mind I'm a rookie now, but plan to make major headway in racing in the next year. Give me a list fellas. don't be shy.

:write: Well from what I have found that a good set of hobby knifes and a driver kit do wonders. The driver kit I can't find the right word for but I am talking about the screw driver handles with the allen heads on the top. I am new as well thats what has been useful to me.:ball:

Typically starter boxes are kind of scale specific. You'll have one for 1/10 scale and one for the 1/8 buggy. You can switch from 1/10 to 1/8 on some boxes but it takes time and generally not worth doing a lot. Maybe there is another product out there, but I think this is generally the case.

Yeah my Dynamite Universal starter box is supposed to be for 1/8 and 1/10 and the motor isnt strong enough for me to start my Sirio without cracking the glowplug loose just a little. I need a 1/8 specific box so being scale specific is no lie!

I would suggest picking up (2) Quality D-cell Glow plug ignitors for your box. I found that a nice set of long offset needle nose pliers is a nice tool to have.

Definately get:

Allen keys (metric & Standard)
Hex drivers " " " " " "
4 in 1 R/C wrench
Afterrun oil

New to buggies but have been a nitro basher for a while. It won't take you long to figure out what tools you use all the time but the basic ones are a must - needle nose, a good set of allens are on everyones list. When it comes to clean up, don't spend tons of money on nitro cleaner. Of course have a can handy, but use it sparingly. Get yourself some de-natured alcohol. It's cheap and cleans the nitro stuff great. After-run oil is good too, I have a bottle but you can also use WD-40 and as we all know, WD-40 has other great features too that can be used on the machines.
I agree with humboldtblazer, get the "D" size igniter. I have a "C" size one and the c batteries don't last like the d ones do. As far as starter boxes, I have the 1/8 scale associated one. Cost me $90 and had to do some serious re-arranging but it takes stick packs as well as the larger re-chargeable battery. It comes with a powerful 750 can motor, lots of torque. Some of the nickle and dime stuff I'm always picking up just because is: various harware, nuts, screws, e-clips, all the little stuff that's cheap but you always seem to need. Oh yeah, and the one thing you really can't do without in your toolbax is this website and all the great folks here. Nothing against the LHS, but the guys in here are out there day in and day out running. This is my best source for anything.
