We have problems and we always will. Anti American sentiment,.......sad, very sad. Many of you may have seen this before but, please do not forget..........A letter posted that woke me up. True or fiction? Who cares, ditto from I.

Dear Terrorists,

I am a Naval Aviator. I was born and raised in a small town in New England. I come from a family of five. I was raised in a middle class home and taught my values by my mother and father. My dad worked a series of jobs in finance and my mom took care of us kids. We were not an overly religious family but attended church most Sundays. It was a nice small Episcopal Church. I have a brother and sister and I am the youngest in my family. I was the first in many generations to attend college.

I have flown Naval aircraft for 16 years. For me the flying was never a lifelong dream or a "calling," it just happened. I needed a job and I liked the challenge. I continue to do it today because I feel it is important to give back to a nation which has given so much to me. I do it because although I will never be rich, my family will be comfortable. I do it because many of my friends have left for the airlines and someone has to do it.

I like baseball but think the players make too much money. I am in awe of firemen and policemen and what they do each day for my community. They don't make enough money.

I respect my elders and always use sir or ma'am when addressing a stranger. I'm not sure about kids these days but I think that's normal for every generation. I voted for George Bush because I like him. I think I made a pretty good choice.

I tell you all this because when I come for you, I want you to know me. I won't be hiding behind a woman or a child. I won't be disguised or pretending to be something I am not. I will be in a US issue flight suit. I will be wearing standard US issue flight gear, and I will be flying a navy aircraft clearly marked as a US warplane. I wish we could meet up close in a small room where I could wrap my hands around your throat and slowly squeeze the life out of you but unfortunately you're hiding in a hole in the ground so we will have to do this a different way.

I want you to know also that I am very good at what I do. I can put a 2,000 LB weapon through a window from 10,000 feet up. I generally only fly at night so you may want to start sleeping during the day. I am not eager to die for my country but I am willing to sacrifice my life to protect it from animals like you. I will do everything in my power to ensure no civilians are hurt as I take aim at you.

My countrymen are a forgiving bunch. Many are already forgetting what you did on Sept 11th. But I will not forget, and my President will not forget. I am coming. I hope you know me a little bit better, see you soon...sleep tight.

Signed.....a US Navy Pilot

To easy to forget........

Thank you for posting that. As a Naval Aviator (of the NFO variety), I loved that the first time I read it, and continue to think it is one of the best things I have read since this whole thing started.

NA, while I respect your opinions and your right to write whatever strikes your fancy...I do disagree with you on several counts. HOWEVER, instead of opening a can of political debate whoopass...I'm gonna bite my tongue. Why? It would take far too much energy and effort to write my rebuttal to your long posts.

I will say this. You have remarkable insight for a left wing communist pinko bastard. :D Twisted insight, but insight none-the-less.

Sky
Those are the most moving statements that I have read since 9/11. Hit's close to home.
I'm like most men probably are, pretty simple folk, I stand behind my President weather I voted for him, or agree with him, or not.
As for a bunch of commie bastards, oh hell I guess everyone is entitled to say what's on their mind. Just don't get within strangling distance of me.
Just kidding

StrechM

LOL...hopefully you did not interpret my commi comment to be directed at you. It was leveled at NitroAddict...our resident left wing journalist. :D

Not at all SkyMaxx, my hats off to you. If it wasn't for men like you this might not be a safe country to live in. It was just a short jab at the far left. I'm obviuosly a couple of inches to right. Besides, most of the real commies will probably be capitalists before the turn of the next century ( nice thought ).

My thoughts,
We are all entitled to our own opinion. It's one of the things that make this country so great. Sort of keeps us all in check, you know, left, middle, right, whatever. And yes war is hell, nothing in the world will ever change that. It is the very last resort after all else fails. You bet I was all for going into Afganistan, Iraq and any other place that threatens us or hosts threats to us. Was it for oil? Was it to kick some dictator's and terrorist's ass? You know that it was all of those and alot more. Please shed a tear for the inocent men, women and children caught in the middle of this. But you had better beleive that if it's not stopped at or near it's place of origin it will be in our backyards sooner than any of us think. If any of you think that I may be to far to the right just go listen to what some of the Mullahs are teaching to their countrymen and children what type of infidels we are. Or watch some idiot North Korean dictator starve his people to extract $$ from us so he can develope nukes.
No, I don't agree 100% with the political wranglings or the BS U.N., ( another long winded speech ) but I do stand 100% behind behind our government on this matter, even when they are having trouble agreeing or doing the job they were voted into offfice for.

I should have purchasd lumber futures instead of getting stuck with a 15 to one reverse split.

Stretch, Sky - make no mistake about my patriotism, i am a die hard patriot, but i do not follow blindly. Stretch, fyi, i too was also in the navy and had a healthy, proper, and honorable term of service. I am not against war, am not against force, just against this particular administrations policies. I am not a staunch democrat, either, as i was very unhappy at all the funding clinton cut out of my pay, while i was in the service.

Although he let the tab run up VERY high to keep enforcing the 'no-fly' zone for how long? Nobody said poop about that either.

The tab to enforce the no-fly zone was estimated to be about 1.8billion a year. This war has currently cost us an average of 7billion a month, a lil different. Compounding this issue, is the fact that we were in a budget surplus at the time of the Clinton administration, while we are currently involved in one of the largest deficits the country has ever seen.

Meanwhile, the Iraqi's are happier than pigs in poop and I will sleep slightly better knowing that most of his regime is in custody!

It is common knowledge that while the percentage of iraqi's who despise us is less than those who like us - the majority of the country is currently in a worse prediciment now, than they were with saddam. With saddam, they were ruled by an evil tyrrant, but at least they had power, running water, and basic quality of life. Not to say that wont change over time, as the whole point of my article was to enforce that issue. The majority of the Iraqi people just want their own country. First, they felt as if they were renting it from saddam, now they feel they are renting it from us. We need to finish the job, and get the hell out.

lol - ok, so if you were being ruled by Saddam you wouldnt be willing to deal with whats going on today to get out from under him???

Oh That's right, we had Clinton to thank for that Surplus too right? Just like we have clinton to thank for todays energy prices......

You are just a hair too left my man. Try being an independent would ya?

We are not talking about you, nor I - we are talking about the Iraqi people. Personally, i would rather be eaten by lions then be ruled by saddam, however - the Middle Eastern Culture doesn't think like you and me. Most of the people of there would rather rot in the desert, than be 'rescued' by an evil American. We need to understand that the entire life these people lead, they have been drilled and taught to hate Americans. This isnt there fault, nor does it make them bad people, but just like you and I would die to be free, these people would die to be independent of American forces. The entire train of thought is different over there.

The majority of people in the middle east would rather die a horrible death than be forced to admit they like america, even if they really do.

doesn't matter when u r horizontal, though - of course you wouldnt know anything about that, would u?

NA - stop speaking for the entire middle east. Look and listen and maybe you will see that a lot more than you think are in fact happy.

Christian - It is a proven fact that the Iraqi people are growing weary of our occupation, without seeing results, even if it isnt our fault, they dont care. The U.S. can wait no longer to have other countries join the effort in Iraq.

The case for greater United Nations involvement in Iraq gets stronger by the day.

This week's bombing at a Baghdad police station and last week's at a Najaf mosque are just the latest deadly evidence that the United States doesn't have enough troops in Iraq to provide security. And without security, the United States will never succeed in building a stable and democratic country.

Now a new report from the Congressional Budget Office has concluded that the United States will not be able to maintain even its current troop strength in Iraq beyond March without scrapping its plan to rotate its soldiers at least once a year. Keeping those soldiers there without a break would undermine American military commitments and readiness in other countries around the world.

Ideally, Iraqis would be responsible for their own security. But U.S. efforts to train an effective Iraqi security force are months, if not years, away from completion.

President George W. Bush this week belatedly gave Secretary of State Colin Powell the go-ahead to seek support for a resolution that would expand the United Nations' role in Iraq. If passed by the U.N. Security Council, such a resolution should encourage more countries to share the burden now overwhelmingly borne by U.S. troops and taxpayers.

The United States has worked well with the United Nations on postwar operations in Bosnia, Kosovo and Afghanistan. Surely the Bush administration can agree on a plan with the world body -- using NATO forces is one good option -- to secure the U.S. victory in Iraq.

It is already a U.S. victory in Iraq. Just that people like you dont have the stomach for what is currently going on. No poop that NATO would be good as well as UN involvement. Why dont you point the finger at the U.N. in the first place. Most of the U.N. was on board from the word go. Koffi Annan was the moron that screwed up the ideal plan. No Bush. But now that he has his head out of his ass maybe he will facilitate what was needed to begin with.

Bottom line is you and I will never agree on this issue so I'm going to stop banging my head against the wall. I dont have time to write a debate, although over a couple of beers we may be able to discuss it in person.

-Chris

Was that an invitation for all of us to come bash you in person this winter then drink you booze? Got a woman we can pillage, and a hut we can burn? :hump:

Don't get me wrong NA, I didn't say that you were unpatriotic. Just having a little fun with this thread. Like I mentioned earlier, one of the things that make this country so great is our freedom to express our our opinions and boy do we have a few! The one thing that we probably do agree on is our government has some hard decisions to make and those will require some very tough actions.

Let me buy the beers and bash you some more, please.

LOL - sorry stretch - just that you are new, and i havnt felt u out yet. you post comments like you did, and i am unsure if you are maing a valid point of your opinion, or you another hateful a**hole who thinks everyone is wrong but him.

no harm no foul.

I know that you guys don't know me. I just thought that I should make a grand entrance. Couldn't pass up the opportunity to see a few poeple get little reved up. Not a hateful bone in my body.

I still want to buy the beers. :burp:
