454 ss all day long built several in my life nothing will run like one. if you have the money look at a crate motor...build a 427 rat in 79 .. with a fogger nitros system...dropped in a 72 chevelle with a 456 Detroit locker with a mucie trans (forget what one) a 4600 lb clutch... Man that put your left leg into a major workout....

I've seen engines from all makes that I've been seriously impressed with. You give a good engine builder a block and if he's good, he can make magic happen. I followed along with a young, talented engineer as he took a bone stock Toyota MR2 and hopped it up close to 900 ponies. It had turbo plumbing you could feed a cantaloupe through. From zero to 60 was like you fast forwarded a movie.

The point is, the whole Ford vs Chevy vs Dodge thing is just dumb. Every manufacturer has an engine that some gearhead has turned into some insanely poweful and beautiful creation. And there is ALWAYS somebody faster. It's all personal preference. And if you limit yourself to any particular brand because of bias, you're just cutting off your creativity. It would be like Bob Ross only painting happy little trees because he only liked greens and browns.

Only if you're on Beale Street! :p

I miss Memphis in May!
Memphis in May is like being on the deck of a burning battleship floating through the lava oceans of hell. You ain't right!

My wife’s uncle used to live a couple blocks off beale. We used to do an annual golf fundraiser for st jude there and it was also a halfway point when we travel back to IL. Can’t remember all those nights on beale 🤣
Right. I used to be in the Casino business. I worked in Tunica for about 7 years before I moved to Vegas.

Memphis also has one of the craziest street racing scenes I have ever witnessed. There were guys pulling in with trailers, unloading full blown race cars and bikes that would easily run 9 second quarter miles.

Well, that's how we roll in Tennessee... 😝
The cops were there watching from about 1/8 mile away for at least an hour. Then they pulled in and ran everyone off. The cops then went right back where they were sitting, and watched everyone come right back and start it up again. Crazy I tell ya.
