OK so we're going to California for a week to visit grandparents. My great Grandpa is really into technical stuff such as lawnmowers and cars. Because of this I though he would like to see my RC18t. When I told my mom I was gonna bring it she freaked out and said that it's illegal and they will confiscate it at the airport.

My question is, is there any part to an RC that would make it a bad idea? I'm gonna bring the RC18t, two NiMH batteries, a Dynamite Prophet Plus charger and the 2.4 TX. I know some of you fly with your RC's, and I just wanted to be able to reassure my mom so she will let me bring it. (all this stuff will fit comfortably in my carry on bag)

I know a few people that has flown with R/C's and it each of them said it was a real pain and a lot of explaining, mostly because they security doesn't normally see them or even know what they are.

It is possible? Yes, but I'd suggest either packing it in a check in bag or just having the truck shipped. At least this way you'll have a tracking number and insurance on it, if the airport loses it then "ohh well".
