RC Driving Style
Well, after weeks of fun with my newly purchased TS4N, it finally came to a crashing halt. Funny how it worked, with advice from this forum, I managed to get the car running just the way that I wanted it to, and then tragedy.

I was letting my friend give'er the gas and he managed to glance the car off of a curb and bent the rc car's version of a tie rod which caused it to careen out of control and flip a few (dozen) times. Upon further inspection, one of the tires looks as though the sidewall was starting to seperate.

I was not upset, I laughed, I realized that it is all part of the RC experience. I will just never let him drive the car again ;)

We decided, just for the heck of it to run it the way it was, bent tie rod and all.

Upon trying to start the car (after putting the car's battery pack back in place.) The pullcord snapped. Game over.

Now I get to take it apart and build it
bigger
better
stronger
and most importantly

FASTER. :loser: :hehe:

I have taken a few paid duty shifts as of late, so I will be making a trip to the hobby shop to pick up a new engine as well as some misc parts for the car (tires, rims, a few bodies, some suspension parts etc.)

Anyways, I will post up pics in a few days. I have heard that it is easier to just replcae the pullstart so that is what I will do, and leave the current engine as the "spare" while I break in the new one. At the suggestion of a forum member, I will likely pick up an OS CV-r.

Any further thoughts on engine choice?

Greg

Nah, that mill is a good one! You'll like it!

Only other advice I can give is to NEVER let your friend drive your rigs...EVER! Unless, of course, your friend gives you a $400.00 deposit!

I strongly agree with not letting your friends drive, at least it's your fault if you break something. It's strange though, I can beat the crap out of my truck, crash, flip it back up and go do some stupider stuff and it doesn't phase me. But when I let my gf drive I get all freaked out and shes only going half throttle lol. She doesn't like driving no more heh.

no pictures?? you have lots to learn grasshopper, the guys on here get off on other peoples bad luck (or bad choices) so next time PLENTY OF PICS!!! lol

I will toss up some pics soon! Although there is really not much to see damage wise.

Wrecked tire
bent tie rod
engine with pull cord missing
and a few dings on the body.

So you guys are the internet version of rubber neckers eh? haha

As far as my friend driving the car, it is all good. If I was worried about having to replace parts, then I would not have let him have a go at it. He was genuinly sorry and cooked me and my fiance a nice steak when we got back, so his debt is now paid in full.

I learn best by hands on experience, so me now having to take apart the car will benefit me greatly in understanding the little quirks of the hobby.

And it gives me an excuse to blow some cash!

wait til one of your friends manages to hit the only 10" puddle in just the right way to splash a ESC / Batt pack & Rx in just the right way to blow up all 3 in one shot.....that's when I learned you just don't let them drive one unless they have one too...no matter how good a friend is he isn't going to like you telling him he just blew up close to 250 bucks in less than 10 seconds.....most people will laugh and think you're kidding.....

I love how I can drive, bash, race my brothers Jammin/TTR and do whatever the hell I want with it, and not manage to break a single thing lol. then I let him drive my mbx-5 and strips/breaks $80 worth of damage in litterally 2 minutes of driving on the track. Its unbelieveable because i have never broken a part on my mbx-5 besides 1 arm LOL

I expect stuff to get broken.

If a buddy breaks it and offers to buy a new part, that's fine.

If someone breaks it and they are genuinly sorry and it was an accident (not doing anything stupid) that's fine.

If someone breaks it on purpose, or is just doing something downright stupid, then they have to deal with me. But that's fine by me too!

:boxing: :seeing_stars:

As long as I know my friend is having fun when or if he breaks MY TRUCK and is sorry and he buys the next round of beers... I will forgive him Hell fixem them is is half the fun of wreckin dem... got a lot of parts and ready to play....
Due for a weekend of haven friends drive myt XXXX-NT.... gotta get them hooked on the hobby if I can !!!!

The moral of this story do not let friends with no RC experience drive. :gulp: I had a bad experience once, had to change a few broken parts and all.

A give them a Tyco or Nikko, let them crash it.
