I was laughing at others here for their stupid crashes and how could you do something that stupid............... well I guess you know the rest of the story! I was approaching the road edging and nailed the throttle to jump the curb and did not realize that the drainage culvert was there! After I pulled the car from the culvert it would not go in a straight line and the servo was making all kinds of noises. I am in the search for a new servo for my broken s128 Futaba:doh:. Also I must of damaged the steering arm on the right side as it is very loose, is this a sign that it is time for a new car:yes:?

Go fix it the drive it like you stole it, breaking stuff is all part of the game, if you don't break something once in a while your not trying hard enough...

That may be so, but I do not like it when it won't drive straight anymore, and the front end acts like I trashed it on the right side. All this after picking up somre new batteries that last for 15 minute run time, oh well. Any s148 futaba servos out there?

15 minutes is pretty good run time. There are guys here that are doing good to get 4 to 5 minutes out of the same batteries you have.

Well, you are missing something in your search for damage. If you can't stop it from pulling, you either jumped center on the servo, or you have a bent tie rod. It's a very minor problem, not worthy of a new car, unless you want to send me that useless non-repairable wreck you're about to put in the trash.
I'll cover the postage. Wrap it really good, so nothing breaks.

You can buy a HiTec 645MG on ebay for about 26 bucks with shipping, and it's probably 3 or 4 times stronger than what you have. I'm not familiar with that servo but because of the car you said you had, I wouldn't imagine it has anywhere near 100 oz/in of torque.

It has almost 50 oz/in of torque. No it is not very strong and I do need to check out the front end. If I turn it left it centers back to neutral again, but if I turn right it does not come all the way back to center and will not hold a straight line. Whats wrong, servo. Right wheel also now has a wobble.

Sounds like the servo is causing the first problem, and you could have a bent rim or something along those lines causing the second problem.

I went to the LHS and picked up some new screws for the wishbones in the front end. I have an old Tamiya Avante 2001 and ordered the ones from the new Avante. The new ones have a larger shoulder, so I used a caliper to measure them and drilled the arms to accept the larger screw shank. It worked great and fits a lot tighter now. I also upgraded to the Futaba S3010 servo for steering and it is much quicker now. The difference between this servo and the old one is night and day. Now I have it back to running again after a bill of $28 for crash damage, but I also upgraded it in the process.

$28 bucks. My last big crash (and only really bad one cost a couple hundred. Well I could have fixed it for 50 to 80, but it cost a couple hundred to make sure that those parts didn't break again in a crash.

I am lovin it as I ran it today for at least 30 minutes(not one run, but several) and that new servo is awesome. It is quicker than I am and you can really work it. I am trying new stunts to improve my skills in case I am nuts enough to want to race later on. This car is not nearly quick enough with a stoch 540, but with it being as old as it is I will have to start from scratch if I want to race.
