1. do they develop a memory like the other nicd batterys?
2. is there a way to discharge them without cutting up my charger and wiring up the end?
3.if not does anyone have a charger (working or not) that i can get cheep so i dont have to cut up my working ones?
4. will a dynamite vision peak charge these?
5.if so what amperage (1 or 4)

the reason I'm asking is because my ignitor doesn't last like it used to.. i know there cheep but if i can get this one working better then ill save the cash for other things.. thanks for you time rc gods..

ok, trust me on this one.....wrap your battery in a paper towel, then in aluminum foil. put in freezer for 24 hours. when it comes out, its a brand new battery(freezing it completly erases the memory)

your joking right?? I've never even heard of anyone doing that.. got a link to more info? its not that i dont trust you its just not logical..

well I don't know about that last post, but yes it will develop a memory like any other batt. Don't know about the other questions though.

no link, but I'm 100% sure. dont take my word tho, do what ya want. but saying, i do it to all my batts. and works EVERY time.

I have heard that putting alkaline batts in the freezer will make them last longer,
so if I were you, I'd go ahead and try it, what do you have to loose? it's not like it's gonna mess it up unless ur freezer really frosts everything...

we freeze our alkalines, and It does seem like they last longer...

Well most of em are powered by a cheap Sub-Cell c or D battery right? why not just go get a new battery?

ooooo. I get it. I think I have seen some pretty cheap dischargers on Tower Hobbies. After that the memory is erased till the next charge. Just make sure to give it a good charge after the erasure.

so when you guys are talking about it getting erased, do you mean like all the volts are off and it has no power?

No, most batteries that are chargable have a "memory"
You ever buy a phone and read the instructions? it says to charge the battery a full 24 hours before use. if you charge a battery onyl half way and use it, the battery will "remeber" the amount of power it had and in the future will stop recieving a charge after that specific zone has been reached. When you draing the battery comletely it erases that memory so the battery can then accept a full charge. At least, I think so...

omg. I can't spell for crap, I hate laptops.

WOW 12 posts and all i got was 1.yes they hold a memory 2. freeze them..

i have a charger and a discharger.. i just need to know if i can discharge these safely, how i would connect it, and if my peak charger will charge it or if i gotta do the 12 hour thing. if anyone has a glow ignitor charger that doesn't work or they dont need please pm me and ill try it.. what am i gonna be out?? 10 bux? i got three ignitors but two of them arent lasting very long..

and on the freeze thing.. if freezing an alkaline makes it last longer then why would freezing a nicd make it discharge??

not being an ass i just want to understand.. if anyone has some info please chime in.. i need to get these done by sunday.. 3 nitros takes alot of ignitor for all day..

I have three flashlight bulbs (I bought in a discount store) soldered together with solid wire leads I use that to discharge the battery. I used to remove the battery to do this but I later found that I could CAREFULLY stick the wires in the front of the ignitor to make contact. I wait until the bulbs go dim.
or
I never tried it but i think I read somewhere to use a glow plug you don't need to discharge the battery :2cents:

i got a set(2) of headlights i use to drain the batterys.. and i got a mega 3 that discharges.. i dont think i can remove the batterys.. these are not the ones that you can unscrew and pull the battery out.. ill try it with the wires.. thanks man

1. NiMh is not like NiCd. NiCd will develop a memory. NiMh will not.
2. Discharging is not necessary
3. nope
4. If the peak charger is rated for single cell charging, you will be fine. In your case ... Yes, the Dynamite vision can peak that battery. READ THE MANUAL!
5. Depends on the battery. I would say 1 amp at 25mv BUT watch the battery. Make sure it doesn't get too hot. Reduce amperage if this happens. As I said in #4, read the manual. It will give you the setting s needed to charge the glow ignitor.

If your ignitor is not holding a charge as it used to, the cell may have lived it's full life. Hopefully you have one where the subC can be replaced. Replace the cell and charge as you usually do.

if you have a 12vDC power supply get a glo-bee....I just leave mine on it all the time while I'm running.....you can fast charge it for a quick fix start too.....great charger, cost about 12 bucks
