Just got this body finished up and had to show it off reminds me of the classic 2000’s nitro and had to include CHROME wheels as well

What’s billet crap?
its the reason the term "full metal maxx" or "metal maxx" exists and is largely derogatory. tmaxx's are not known for durability and guys used to spend hundreds on aluminum everything and end up with a blinged out tmaxx that was so "nice" and so expensive they didn't want to run it anymore. it was a thing in the very early 2000's.
a couple examples.

mmm yes zero flex on basically everything on top of making my engine work harder, surely this will end well 💪 (it will not)

to truly be an early 2000's tmaxx it has to have 20lbs of billet crap on it. 🤣
Besides aluminum bling, it needs the TRX Pro .15 Engine instead of the 2.5R.
Both a trend and an engine I don't miss.
I'm amazed Traxxas still sells that paperweight.
Maybe what's currently for sale is simply leftover stock from 2002...

Nice paint job!

my only complaint about the .15 was the truck it was in. it was under powered for a big 4x4 monster truck. in a nitro sport/ruslter/stamped it was fine after you replaced the ez start with a pull starter. its a little ill tempered but if you ran it on good fuel (not traxxas fuel) it at least got the job done without to much headache.

No argument that the original T-Maxx was not known for durability.
Watching my buddy break/fix his, steered me towards buying a Savage, which is much more durable.

On the other hand, experience has shown me that adding aluminum A-arms does nothing to improve durability.
Plastic at least bends and can bounce back after hard hits, whereas aluminum doesn't.
We've had to throw away aluminum arms after hits that a plastic arm would just shrug off.

Then the practice of going overboard with aluminizing everything just adds weight.
It looks great on a shelf queen, but that's about it.

The TRX .15 was definitely underpowered in the T-Maxx - which was the point of my joke.
I seem to recall it as being tempermental too, but we never used Traxxas fuel.
I can't understand why Traxxas still markets it after they came out with the 2.5/2.5R (much less the 3.3) - both of which I still run in Revos.
IMHO - The 2.5R is a vastly super engine to the TRX .15.

I'm also not a fan of the EZ-Start (or pull starters for that matter).
The EZ-Start adds high center of gravity weight and the pull - well, I'm lazy.

I replace either with a Roto-start backplate, and have plans to run a bump-start turbo button Sirio/Traxxas 2.5 unit sometime this year.
I rebuilt a couple of engines over the winter with the Sirio components that have been hanging around for years.

The Sirio cylinder has 5-ports and the crankshaft moves so much more air than the stock one, that the stock carb could not keep up with the demand. It was like a runner having an asthma attack. I threw in an OS 11K carb, got it dialed in, and problem solved.

Thankfully I have the 3.3
