hey i was wondering if u guys think paypal is worth it. i wanna sign up but dont know where. do you need to give a credit card? what are the benifets?

I never had a problem with paypal. I think it's worth it. Yes u need to give a credit card or debit card w/ the visa or MC logo on it. The benefits are if u get screwed on a deal paypal insures the deal and looks into the situation.

I never was charged when buying something. I think it charges if u are the seller.

correct. i have used paypal for years without a problem.

I've only been charged with a MERCHANT account through PayPal. I dont recall paying anyone to receive money in my personal paypal account.

I've had no problems with them.

Enough so, that I have chosen to use them SOLELY for my new online business.

The bottom line with paypal is that's it's a good service. It's far from great but it's popular as hell and that's what makes it good.

I get sick of the charges @ times for stuff less then $100.00.

I always use paypal....but so far i have been fiddlesticked on two expensive ebay auctions and have not seen a dime from either ebay or paypal. The first one was for $380 and the second one was for $280. The first person actually was arrested for fraud by the NJ prosecutors office and I still did not see a dime.... I am actually getting pissed all over again....

I have my paypal tied directly to my bank account. I have never had a problem with paypal. There are some A**H**** scam artists out there that should be shot but paypal has never let me down.

I've used paypal for years and really like the service. I've not had an problems with paypal.

Although the majority of posts in this thread have been positive, there have been problems. There is a site dedicated to "bad" experiences with paypal. And while it may be the minority of cases, its something to be aware of.

The one thing I won't do is give them my bank account. Giving them access means they can inadvertantly drain my checking count, tieing up all my money.

At least with a CC you have recourse.

Also remember that Paypal is a business and not some type of financial institution, so there is no protection of your money that is in their hands....

Paypal rules, I am a verified business member and at that point they give you a paypal debit card. That way you can go to a local ATM if need be and draw the funds as soon as you receive them.

got mine too :D

IMHO this is the only way to be a paypal member it is great. I thought it was a pain in the butt I was stoked when I found out they had the paypal debit card to draw funds off of. You can even spend like a regular credit card. www.paypal.com

I just signed up like a few days ago. if you sign up with CC only, they give you a $2000 limit. If you do the bank verification thing (which I didn't and don't feel the need) they do away with the limit entirely. Basically it just seems like an easier way to buy stuff online from merchants who use it. It's fast too cuz the money is guaranteed to the merchant right away. I ordered a screw set early Thursday morning... got it today. Is it me or does USPS seem to be the quickest delivery these days?

bank verification is as easy as the day is long.

You already gave them enough info, its worth the extra time if you plan on doing any big transactions.

Yeah USPS is all of the sudden the fastest delivery service....everything I ship through them gets where it is going really fast....

I've been using paypal for years... Its awesome, I've never had a bad experience.

I have all my accounts linked and verified through Paypal. I use them for money transfers between accounts, buying and selling of goods.
