I wanted to put a fan onto my motor (or ESC), but I found out that I need a 3rd channel. My receiver has only 2 channels. Can I just solder the wires to where the battery connector is? So it's basically like a Y connection, one going to the ESC and one going to the fan. Is this possible?

should run fine off the batts, but your fan may not spin very fast. most are se up for 12v and the batts are 7.2. if you can find one that has a lower v rating it would work better. you will probably get shorter run times though.

You can run a Y harness and plug one end into the receiver and the other end into your ESC/fan or servo/fan. Look for a fan that is rated between 5-6 volts because that is all the RX will supply.

Most all hobby shops in San Jose should carry them (RC Unlimited, HobbyTown USA, D&J Hobby). Also check out Aeromicro in Santa Clara.

I think my LHS should have one (it's closer than RC Unlimited but I like RC Unlimited better.) I'll go check when I bring my new drifter to their track.
