I have an associated gt2. I was in the middle of the break in process. On the second tank, I started the car and immediately the car was going full speed without me puling the throttle. I brought it to my hobby shop and they said I needed to install a fail start. Was the fail start the cause of the problem?
Thank You.

I believe they meant "failsafe". A failsafe is an electronic device that attaches inline with your radio gear. It is typically installed onto the throttle servo and if the receiver loses contact with the radio it will turn the throttle servo to a pre-arranged state. Usually with the throttle closed and the brake on.
Another thing you will want is a throttle return spring. Because if you lose all power to the radio, a failsafe won't work. But a return spring will manually pull the throttle back to neutral so your truck won't run away.

The name of it is fail safe. The fail safe is a mechanism that you install on your car. Some of them are programmable. If your batteries die in your transmitter or the car picks up a stray signal your fail safe kicks in and either puts the throttle at neutral or if it is adjustable you can set it to put the throttle so it is braking the car. More than likely you either received a stray signal from something or your batteries came loose or died. The fail safe will prevent your car from running away at full throttle. They are pretty cheap and well worth it.

What receiver do you have in the GT2? Most higher end receivers have a built in programmable failsafe. If it's the stock RTR gear then you will probably need to get an external failsafe as these guys have mentioned.

Yeah. It's the stock receiver. I was asking if me not having the fail safe was the problem of it going by itself or is there another problem?

check your trim buttons and stuff i had that problem with a red cat and one of the buttons had gotten turned ( they have more then just the trim they have like 8-10 things on the remote and most of them are just a big pain..) I dont know howmany settings you have on your controler but it dont hurt to check it out.... away to check it os with motor of turn truck and the remote on and make sure everything is working the way it should be a reverse switch could have been hit to...
