fail safe question

was looking for a fail safe on ebay ..well...found some ...from 3$ to 40$..lol....anyone ever used those 3$ one from China ???

i was thinking of trying one ...but I'm reluctant to get one ....wouldnt want to have a run away truck or a wreck just because i wanted to save a few $$

i guessing you get what you pay for with those to ..lol....but who knows ??...maybe some of you guys do ...

whats the best bang for my $$ when it comes to fail safes ??

Have never tried one but I'm also looking for a failsafe and wld not trust one of those hong kong ones just so i didnt have to spend $30-$40..

IMHO if it does not say OFNA, Duratrax, or Venom (and Venom is a very distant third) I would not use it. Pitty to ruin a $600 rig because you wanted to save a few bucks. Most anyplace you can pick up a GOOD Failsafe for $30...

Yeah, my first ever Failsafe is/was a Dynamite. Good call! Put it between the Duratrax and the Venom for sure!

Ofna in the Savy and a Dynamite on my RS4 Evo. Both work great...

It's a good little Failsafe. Cheap insurance in our book. If I may also suggest a throttle return spring? The Failsafe will do it's job but having a spring that will return the throttle to neutral will save a full throttle runaway should the Failsafe... Well... Fail.

ya ...I'm planning on changing that to ...because i now use a steering servo for the throttle/break

the spring does the job as is ..i tested it ...but ill put a stronger one just to be safe

must be ...there is only one on the throttle ..it hooks up beside the linkage ..and is hooked to the servo box

When referring to a throttle return spring we are referring to a spring such as the one circled in red below. If you are talking about the spring between the collar and the servo on the linkage that isn't what I am talking about.

no prob ...we allways learn in this hobby

if you want to test if yours is strong enough ...turn the reciever and transmiter on ....give it full throttle and shut the reciever off ...youll see if it returns all the way back

ok...just got a duratrax failsafe ...i hook it up ..programed it ...but doesn't seem to work for signal loss .....if i turn my tx off ...it goes back to neutral ..but does not apply breaks ......but if i turn on the rx without turning on the tx ...it will flash red and apply breaks

i tried it with and without the optidrive

any ideas ??

ok ..i just did some tests ...it works for the low voltage ,, it puts the break on .....but for signal loss , it does nothing ...the rx failsafe is doing its job to put it back to neutral ...but the duratrax does nothing when its supposed to
