Hey Everyone,

Has anyone out there tried this kit out on their Mini LST2, and if so, is a low profile servo a must or is there enough clearance for a regular sized servo? I've gone through a few steering servos on mine and really think the conversion kit is a good idea but the low profile servos are costly. Kind of hard to justify a $100 servo in a rig that only cost $200 to begin with. Let me know if anyone has any experience with this kit and luck with a non-low profile 1/10 scale servo. Thanks!

Yes, I purchased the Exotech single servo conversion for one of my MLST2's last year. The kit is very high quality and everything fit together perfectly. I hightly recommend it. I am using a low profile servo as they recommend (I forget which one). I believe that a standard servo would fit. The only problem that I can forsee is that the body may not clear the servo. I can post some pictures of my rig when I get home.

Thanks for the info man. I ordered the conversion kit from exoteck a little while ago. Next problem I have is a stripped center diff. I bought an upgraded MIP center ball diff for it and put it in but the slip on the ball bearings is nuts now. The thing has not bite at all. The motors are blazing and the truck goes like it's being driven by an 80 year old nun! I took it apart a few times to verify that I put everything in there correctly and can't find any mistakes. Finally I called MIP and they said to send them my center diff and they'll look at it and fix whatever the problem is or replace it. Pretty good customer service if you ask me. Anyway, you have any problems with your center diff at all? If so, what have you used as far as replacement parts?

You will love the Exotek. As for servo question, I did a quick and dirty visual inspection of a standard servo versus the low profile one I have in my rig. From what I can tell a standard servo is about 3/8" deeper than the low profile version. Since the servo is mounted upside down, this translates to being 3/8" taller. On my rig, I have only about 1/4" from the top of the servo to the pin holes in my front body mount posts. In a nutshell, I think you would have to either raise the front body mount posts or modify the body to make a standard servo work.

Regarding the center diff, are you running a brushless setup? I am running a Mamba MMB25-CM2054 with the juice provided by a Thunder Power 3S Lipo (1320mAh). I used to have a center spool and found that I was constantly destroying front diffs. I have since switched back to a center diff and have had no issues. However, I have not run the truck much at all since the switchover. Probably a couple of rounds of bashing out in the street.

Hmmm, thanks for the added info! I really appreciate it. It doesn't sound like it would be too bad for a regular sized 1/10 servo with the exoteck conversion in there. I'll see what things look like when I get the kit. If need be, I can always pick up a low profile servo from my lhs. As for the center diff, I've given up. As I mentioned, I spoke with MIP and they want my center diff to check it out and fix what the problem is. I sent it out to them today. They said they wouldn't charge me for anything. Pretty good as long as it works. I'll let you know. Thanks again for all of the info and have a good night. If you ever have a free moment, post a few pictures of your rig so I can see how it looks with the conversion kit other than from the exotech website. Thanks again!

Hey, thanks for the pictures. They're great and give me a good idea of what I'm in for. That thing being brushless must really move. I can't wait to get my order in from exotek now. On a side note, I just got off the phone with MIP about the center diff. The kit for the mini t and the mini lst2 are almost identical but not quite. Long story short, they took pity on me and replaced my stuff with a new mini lst2 kit and are sending it back today. Great customer service if you ask me. Buy something from them if you get the chance! Spread the word!

its the same for the mini LST also. I'm going to purchase once as soon as they are back in stock from exotek. i have a friend here that has it on his mini LST2 and its great. and they give you an option to buy whatever servo saver you want, so you could put any normal sized 1/10 servo on there. my friend has a futaba S3010 I'm pretty sure and the lid fits fine, you might have to lift up your body posts a little bit but the lid will fit. i would get a new body though since if you land on that once spot the servo isnt very protected. so get a thicker body of a roll cage.

but that exotek kit if great i can't wait to get my hands on one for my mini LST

great pics by the way
