Hey Guys,

Ever go through a dry spell where you have not purchased and kit, new rig, hop-ups, or even parts for that matter? Since my LHS closed back in December I have not purchased anything RC. I have no projects going on other than cycling packs and some various maintainence type stuff. It is really kinda depressing. I know not everyone can afford a new kit or hop-up parts every month... so is there anyone out there going through a dry spell? Or anyone out there who is not running the latest and greatest anymore?

I've been through the opposite lately. But that's OK since I sold most my rigs a year ago, and I just missed having those little critters around. :)

The most I have ever gone without buying an RC related item is about a month.

Seems like every time I come home from the track, I need to pick up some parts. Usually it's wear items like tires.

In the off season, I always have some sort of project going where various parts are needed.

i went through a spell for like 6-8 months. didnt even really mess with the stuff. but I'm back now!! and i have more rigs then i think i ever have..

Honestly, I haven't run an RC for the most part in over a year. I did just buy an RC18R and have dabbled a bit. But no nitro since I moved to my new house. And I haven't flown my planes or helicopter in 2 years. I'd say I'm in a slump. My problem is that I don't have any RC friends here so I roll alone. And that gets really boring after a while. I could use a change and have been considering a crawler. But since buying my house, my budget is shot. Unfortunately RC has to suffer in that case.

I always feel like I'm in a slump because I never actually run my r/c's. It's pretty pathetic actually. I have a number of relatively new items that I have yet to use. I've have that GT2 that I bought from Bryson back in like October and I still havn't run it. It really is sad.. I can't imagine how much dough I have wrapped up in all my rigs and projects and the only thing that ever gets used is my Micro DT.

me too Jeff. I'm trying to get my boy interested and he does like to play with his micro ramminator sometimes as well as his WK outside. I'm trying to lure my wife into the fun but's it's like pulling teeth with her. The only reason she's slightly interested in actually driving an r/c is because Chase has a blast when she does (the one and only time she ever has). But I really think she's gonna dig her EMaxx once I get this thing painted. Speaking of... I need to go mix up another shade of pink...

I just don't have the time anymore. I am really looking forward to the g2g this weekend since i haven't bashed with other people in almost 2 years. I just moved close to 4 members on here so i plan to try and get out more and run the trucks.

The wheely king is my current favorite since it was cheap (less than 400 invested right now) and its lots of fun

Since my accident I have been in a 3 month slump, with a long way to go yet. Can't get out and run, no cash to work on current projects thanks to medical bills. But at least I can still come here and bs about rcing with all my friends here. I finally painted my first lid of 09 a couple weeks ago. I am really missing that smell of burning nitro, and running the maxxes with my son, or hitting the rocks at the beach with my crawler, man I can't wait until I can finally get out and run again. :\

Lessen.... that is my biggest problem. I have so many RC's that just don't see any use. I don't want to think about how much money I have wrapped up in the rigs either. The last kit I built was the B44 and it has yet to see anything but the basement carpet in a little over a year. I have a Hopped up Tmaxx that is almost as bad as Rolex's Savage! This is going to sound bad... but when my LHS was around, it was my Cheers. My place to hang out and shoot the breeze, talk RC, as well as get tempted by all the nice new shinny bling! Now that that is not available anymore I am kinda lost. Also ordering things off the net just isn't the same. I also have a tight budget right now and that is probably the biggest thing. Also since my daughter was born and requires constant attention, time has not been on my side either. On the bright side, school will be done for the semester in about 2 weeks so I should be able to get a little RC time in the evenings every now and again and with the track out back get a little track time too. Like Candyman and Lessen, since the LHS closed I have nobody to run with, and running by yourself is fun for the first pack, and then it looses its luster. My stepson does not seem interested and my wife is definitely not interested. I know I sound like I am whinning, but I just feel a little bummed since I went into the RC room last night and saw the rigs just sitting there. I haven't even replaced the battery door that blew off the ERevo in late Jan. I would like to drop a BL setup in the Slash... Maybe here in the next month or so.... as soon as we get caught up paying of some credit debt. I would really like a Baja 5T! I don't think I can convince the wife though. I really want to hold out and wait for a kit to come out.

It was a hard pill for me to swallow to give up the RC's... or the extra time I had to spend messing with them rather, when my daughter was born. Not that I don't love my daughter, and she is definitely more important than RC's... but I miss the free time sometimes. Especially this time of year.

So Rob... do your sell your stuff every so often to make room for the new stuff, or do you just add to the collection?

I feel for ya my friend. I do hope that you do get better soon so that you can shake the dust off of those rigs soon!

I sell rigs that I no longer have interest in to make room and to fund future purchases.

Recently my Savage and IROCK crawler found a new home. My GorillaMaxx, M18 Pro and my dads new built Mad Force are next to go.

I go through a lot of dry spells.
My rigs are almost always broken and it's just so expensive after a while to fix them.

I Have a Savage x that is out because I started it and tried to drive just to realize that I have major radio problems with no warning whatsoever(Dx2)

Savage 25 I am way off on it.

Revo I couldn't keep together if my life depended on it. I am always breaking engine mounts like twigs and when the engine mount goes, so does the spur.

2.5 4Tec with the os18 from my revo is just sitting there because I broke the rear belt and ordered the rear belt for the 3.3 4tec.

The Rc18b That I just got from Heartbreak in November I think broke the first day. It's just the steering servo no big deal, but even if I replace that I need to get a better battery and a charger to charge it.

I guess the only working rig I have is a Stampede. Hows a run time of about 5 minutes sound?

I think I will get the RC18 running first because I haven't even gotten to run it much at all.

Hmmmm lets see. I have a 31" Dumas nitro swamp boat that I have not ran in over two years because I am on am island and I am scared to drop it in salt water. My Plane sits, has not see air in a years because my job either keeps me on 12 hour days so when the weekend does come it is playing catch-up on all the stuff I didn't get to do during the week. Then I get shorter days but I work mid shift so by the time the weekend is here I go to bed by 2-3 in the afternoon and have stuff to do in the mornings.....I still run my MT2 SS because it is quick and easy to do. I built a Baja and it took me a week to run the break in tank!...lol. I have Beason's Revo and have tinkered with it a bit but never really had time to tune it correctly. My Jammin truggy has not been ran since .... September? But I have some parts to make another Project Savage in the mail to build up....who knows if I will ever run it. Maybe I will just sit and polish it. Yeah and joke around and give Rolex crap....listen to us. Hmmm....I have no tracks on the island anymore. The last one closed down. Trying to get the permission to build one on a neighboring USMC camp but they want us to change the name of the club. Who wants a RC club called PORN (Pacific Off Road Nitro) putting up signs right? Then when I can run....I'm asleep. I do have a big grass back yard...my neighbor lady thinks I am the spawn of satin because of them (heh heh heh) Her daughters are nice though....... Sigh....we are like a bunch of old men sitting around the porch of the local general store telling stories of "back then"....lol. There is always light at the end of that tunnel.....I think I can see it...yes, yes......crap....It's a train

BUT I HAVE YOU GUYS TO GRIPE WITH SO IT'S OK!!!!!

Yeah I sure do if you go to my profile I have them in a folder called Joe's RC crap. There is a few in there of it.

I know the feeling. I'm grounded till the next report cards (june) come out. alls i can do on the week is order parts. i can't touch the cars at all during the week. and my weekends are so busy i don't get much time to run them

Nice Read Joey! Boat looks cool.

I didn't mean to start a depressing thread... I am by no mean depressed. I have a wonderful family that loves me, and job, and hopefully my health! I could probably get another kit this year... but I really want a Baja... so I am kinda biding my time, if you know what I mean? Life has a tendancy to be like that some times. Those with kids know that time is at a premium and something has got to give and obviously you are not going to get rid of your kids! Hell, the few times a year we are without the kids the wife and I try to watch a movie or go out on a "date night"... I suppose I could disapear to the basement for some wrenching, but ya know I enjoy the time with her. Also with summer coming up I should get some more time as well.

Well sorry if I depressed anyone! I was just feeling in an RC rut and figured I would complain a bit. I mean... I have so many rigs that just sit around and it is hard to convince the CEO on another purchase. Selling them is hard because of the work I put into each one... they are kind of like my "Children" so to speak... I am like that weird old lady with a thousand cats... except I have 11 RC's instead! LOL
