Have you ever been so frustrated you wanted to give up your R/C's?

Well I have many times. And now i'm giving in. Now don't get your hopes up. I'm not selling my r/c's. But I am in the process of preparing them to be stored for a little bit.

I've just been real frustrated with both my ntc3 and my savage. Haven't ran the ntc3 all that much since I got the savage but the ntc3 has gotten so boring. I'm too chicken to race so I just run it up and down the street. Find drifting, do that for awhile then realize I suck and crash too much.

My savage has given me hell since I got the Hyper 8. Seems like no matter what I do the thing will not run right. I think it's the tank but i'm not sure. I know it's lean a hell. Ho Hum. And i'm breaking stuff and having to go to the LHS every day practically! It's embarassing to come there everyday and spend a small fortune...considering i'm broke.

So now i'm just going to make everything is in working order, make sure there's no fuel in the engines, drop some after run oil in. And put it in my closet to collect dust until i'll ressurect them in a month...lol

Oh and don't get your hopes up too much, i'll still post on my favorite forum. Can't get rid of me that easy

Yup, I feel that way alot. Once you start throwing cars it's time to give it a break. I purchased a Micro to relax with, maybe you should try that. You can get then on ebay with a radio and hop-uos for around $100

What really pisses me off too was that I just bought 40 bucks worth of stuff. It was just little things but need to buy stuff as a set. Come to find out I need to go back to the hobby shop to get one little item. And I had just went to two hobby shops....

...and speaking of piss offs, Kwong...

I had gone to the LHS (Ultimate in Auburn) and bought ProLine Maxx Paddles and Velocity Offset wheels TWO HOURS before I toasted the slipper...

I figure it's bench time for a little while...

same here, i got no one to run with so it is really boring, i am thinking of investing my money on my real car instead of my RC, but i always seem to find a willing person to see my car zoom up and down the street, i drive like I've been doing this :wasted: so you know that other dirves dont like to be on the track the same time i am, sometime i wish i could drive as good as i do on my Xbox! :( well i guess prac makes purfect,

Ya when MC reads this thread he will automaticly think of me. I have a short temper and well sometimes wrneching on my maxx and a short temper dont mix.:hehe:

:normal: damn... my real car... I need the CV joints and my timing belt replaced!

Yeah also right now i'm trying to concentrate more on my real car. Hopefully with my dad's permission he'll let me put some money into it.

Hey Kwong, your dad shouldn't have any problem with you spending money to maintain your car. However, he might be raising an eyebrow or two if you're talking about pricey cosmetics or insane audio components. (If more insane than what you've got is possible!)

As a matter of fact I switched my amp out last week now I have about 150 more watts of power. But the subs can't take it so they're starting to blow. I've got insurance so i'll get some new and better ones.

As for my aftermarket performance parts. I'll probably be dumping about $1500 in the car in the next month or two. Hopefully, unless my dad says no:( ...i'll leave him in the dark on how much some of the stuff costs.

i think it's important to race with other people, or it's not as fun. join all the local clubs and go to all the local tracks on a regular basis. that'll help u to get to know the locals, and you'll motivate each other :)

Don't quit!

I hear you, and I feel your pain. I am not particularly a racing quality RC driver myself. I once found myself in the same boat as you. I wasn't into racing. I wanted to just run. My solution was to sell off my on-road stuff, and get into Stadium Trucks. I like RC10GTs (I have two of em). You can run them just about anywhere. They are pretty fast and can take tons more abuse than a Nitro TC3. A little suspension tuning, good street tires, paint a groovy body and you got a killer street-bashing machine! Manhole covers and on-road RC cars do not mix well. Just repairs waiting to happen. Dont waste money with on-road cars unless you have a 100X200, smooth paved space to go run them in. Otherwise, you live in the hobby shop buying way over-priced plastic parts.

As far as the HPI Savage is concerned. Everyone I know who has one hates it. A money trap as one guy put it. I put my money on the T-Maxx any day (just an opinion).

Some trivia for all .... I run my trucks at Floyd Bennet Field in Brooklyn, NY. I have a regualr spot on an abandoned runway which I learned recently is the very runway from which Wronway Corrigan took off on his famous flight.

Hey Elburro....if you have any info on offroad tracks in BK drop me a PM. I'm in Jersy just off the Geothals.

How dare you speak of such things!!! You need to redeem yourself immediately!!! Go out to your RC's. Tell them you love them and every bit of enjoyment they always give you. Tell them you are only human and you are not perfect. No matter how much mud, dirt, grime, or whatever is on them give them a big kiss and mean it! Pray they forgive you...

Well the savage is in full working order. Reset the needles and ran it a little bit today to see how the engine settings worked out. Ran pretty good. LSN and hsn were both rich. Only problem I had was the slipper was way loose and it was going about as fast as a stock 21bb...lol

I've decided to still store both r/c's. But if I see any posts with any locals heading to an off-road track, i'll dig it out.

I'm actually thinking about maybe getting a fun fly r/c plane and doing that for awhile. My dad said he'd buy me one but knowing me i'd probably take it for granted and get bored. So i'm gonna look for either a used ARF or a NIB ARF. Hopefully I won't spend more than $100. I've been pretty bored with my pattern plane...but there is a contest coming up in like 3 weeks or something. I need to start practicing.

No offense kwong2001, but your original post and at least one other here sounds just like my younger brother. I keep telling him to slow down and learn to control his R/Cs before he worries about flying around in areas where he doesn't have room for mistakes. It takes time to learn to control these things and I'm not expert by any means. As for racing, I don't now but used to, and can tell you there is nothing to be affraid of. If you want to try it, just go and drive at a comfotable pace. It is hard to do when everyone is passing you but that is how you will learn. You can also pick up a lot of tips from other drivers. Most are understanding of begginers and will be glad to help. Sure, there are always the few who think they are something special but for the most part you should be welcomed the vast majority. I have seen parking lot races where the guy just taking his time and not wrecking actually won while the others were outdriving themselves. Just don't lose the perspective that you are there to have fun. It takes time.
