I asking this for a friend, he is asking me about the traxxas velineon xl5 esc. Wants to know if it is lipo compatible ( I think it is) and if it has a drag brake. I know nothing about this esc. Thanks guys.

Ya 3s capable. No drag brake i dont think.

Thanks slowgreen, I thought it was but he needs a drag brake. There's another friend who has one for sale, he's never hooked it up so he doesn't know if there is a drag. He wants 30 for it.

Thanks again Sng. I did some digging and found out that it does not have a drag brake.

Really there not many that do have drag brakes. Castle stuff does, FXR does, Holmes BRXL does and a few others but not too many. Whats he want it for? Can get sidewinders used for $40-50 here and there, they have drag brake up to 233% and are also 3s capable.

i always thought that the xl5 esc was only would be 2s lipo capable. it is the brushed esc right?

Holy cow, I thought it said vxl! Yeah, that makes a difference, the xl5 is only 2s and doesn't have a cutoff I dont think.

Glad you pointed that out fescue101.

my son has the brushed stampede and it does have a lipo voltage cut off. it just goes half power when it is getting to low of voltage letting you know when the voltage is getting low.

Yeah some did I guess but alot didnt, prolly the early ones.

Well of I read it right there two versions of that esc. I'm sure I read it was 3s compatible. I also.read that it was great in a scale rig, and that it didn't have a drag brake. I don't know anything about this esc. 40 to 50 for a Sidewinder? Pm me if one comes up and ill let him know.

You can get brand new Sidewinders off of ebay for about $55. I just bought a couple not to long ago for the crawler I bought off of SNG. The new ones even come with fans :)
