Engines?

Iam a noob obviously, and Iam wondering can i just put any engine in a car? for example if i have a 3.0cc engine and i want a bigger one can i just get any engine and put in it ?

Ull need the correct engine mount and might be a good idea to make sure someone else has done it before. Some engines physically won't fit in some cars. Eg too long so that the motor hits the vital suspension and or gear box Parts which sometimes can't be moved.

Typically speaking the two main things to be concerned about are block size. You can typically replace a small block with another small block and a big block with a big block. Sometimes you can mount a big block instead of a small block but you would have to have a special engine mount in order to do it and thats were you want to check into weather or not other people have done it with the particular engine you are thinking of using to make sure its gonna fit before you spend the money.

The other thing you want to try and do is make sure the exhaust port on the replacement motor is in the same place as the original engine. For example if your old engine has the exhaust port in the back you would want to ideally replace it with an engine that also has a rear exhaust port otherwise your gonna be trying to find other pipes or adapters that will work.

I havent decided yet, i was gonna get the Red cat tornado, but i have read alot of negative about red cat. Iam wanting to get a cheap one like in the $200 price range and build it to a better one slowly as i get more experience, i was thinking of getting a used one or something i dont know yet.

Keep in the back of your head that when buying used your gonna get just that - used. IMO its not the way to go for someone with minimal experience in the hobby. IMO do yourself a favor and save the extra couple bucks for a quality name rig. Associated, Traxxas, Losi just to name a few. Going with a namebrand means theres going to be aftermarket available and reliability is a step better than say a Redcat, XTM, or a Duratrax. At the end of the day its your rig but starting with less headaches always makes it more enjoyable

+1 to both points....Crank has to be compatible and you are better off saving up 4-500 bucks and buying a new RC and one that is name brand. If you want a buggy then you can get OFNA RTR buggies starting at around 300 bucks I believe. Good basher buggies.

What do you all think of the traxxas nitro sport? is there a lot of mods that I can get for it? and will it be a good car to race?

What type of driving do you plan on doing? If you're looking at the Nitro Sport, I would suggest spending a little more and getting the Rustler. The Rustler has a full aluminum chassis where the Sport is half aluminum & half plastic. It will also have a stronger engine and better steering setup. Other than that they are very similar, and parts are interchangeable. I have both and I use the sport as an on road car, while the Rustler gets 10' in the air off of skate board ramps.

I love my Rustler, a lot of people will say it's not very capable but I have a blast with it and it never lets me down. Throw RPM arms, towers and bumper and it can handle some serious abuse.

Does anyone know the specs on a vx.18cxp engine? Horsepower rpm and so forth, I am not trying to hijack your post just needing some help thanks if anyone chimes in.:\
