I took my dynamite mach .15 into the hobby shop last night and it looks like it is time for a major rebuild. I am looking at about $80 in parts (piston and sleave, rod, front and rear bearings). At this price I am thinking of buying a new engine. I can get a new mach .15 for $100. Is there any other engines in that price range that I should look at for a replacement in my xxxnt? Maybe a .12?

how much power do u want? the OS .12 or .15 CV-X series are great engines. Without a doubt they are the most reliable engines on the market. They will put out a lil more power than the mach u have now and will set u back about 100.00

If you want more power and have a lil more to spend - check out the OS .12 or .15 CV-RX series. they produce TWICE the power of the CV series and still offer the reliabilty. They will set u back about 140-170. Most of the racers use this engine.

I was happy with the power of the mach. I do not plan on doing much racing. I am just looking for something that is reliable.

As NA mentioned if you want something reliable get an OS engine. They are easy to tune. I just put a .15 CV-RX in my T-Maxx and I am extreamly happy with it. It has a lot more get up and go compared to the old Pro .15 that was it in.

How much difference is there between the .12 and the .15? Would a .12 o.s. cv-x be faster than my mach .15

a lil faster - not too much. the .12 cv-r has more power than 2 machs.

if u are just looking for a lil more power - and not planning to race - get the .15CV -X its quite inexpensive - and reliable as all getout.

Do you know of any good places on-line that sale the .15 cv-r for cheap?

actually - i think both of u made a mistake. Steve - did u want the R model? i though u just wanted a cheap replacement. the .15 R model is the race engine. and mcvickj - a P represents a pilot shaft, the X means pullstart.

Steve - the codes are like this

CV - the engine model
X - Pull start
R - Race

so a .12 CV-RX is a cv engine race version w/pull start

a .12CV is a cv engine sport model w/o a pull start. got it?

for the xxxnt u want the standard shaft model.

i think the engine u are looking for, steve is the OS MAX .15CV-X

right here: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXBZ30&P=0

on sale for 89.00 - not bad!

$89.00 ??!?!? :wtf: :omg: i swear they were more expensive than that in the past.

I am just looking for a replacment, I do not plan on doing much racing. I want something that will perform as well as the mach .15 or maybe just a little better. Thanks for all your help

xxxntSteve, if you have $90, buy that OS MAX .15CV-X in the link above. You won't find a better engine for a better price. If yuo hang around this forum long enough, you'll learn that engine is the bomb. Everyone that run's 1/10 scale runs that engine. $90 is an unheard of price. It will out perform your mach .15 no problem. In some cases, a piston/sleave replacement can cost more than $90. get one at this great price while they are in stock!

the engine i sent u a link to is the one for u then, steve! less than 100 bucks, more power than your mach, and 20 times more reliable!

robh - yeah they used to be about 120.00 - several times a year - OS will offer specials. They just had the special discounts on the .15 CV-R no pull start model a while back. thats when i got mine. i only paid 120.00 - usually its 180.00

i wish i had the green to buy one. my son's torq 16 engine is a real piece of crap. i'm not looking for speed cause he just bashes, but a dependable engine would be nice.

that cv-x is the exact same engine i have. it idles good and is fairly powerful for $90. gearing needs to be changed. i put mine in my nitro sport and it flys... wheelies easily. it also idles real good. it does get real hot after a wile even when real rich but thats what you get from having a square small head.
