ok i just bought a new team orion .18 wasp engine and it has a shorter shaft than the stock truck will that make a difference ?? i hope to god it doesent if it does I'm screwed please help me? And if it does make a difference what can i do to make it work correctly?

Thanks nick

I think you mit have a problem with it. If it is shorter you mit not be able to slide the engine up far enough to make contact with the spur gear. But I'm not sure the only way to find out if it works is to try it. But if it dont work sell the engine on ebay and get a new one......Nick

Your old one had a pilot shaft and the new one doesn't?

Well....I've never done this myself, so ask for further comments here at RCNT. I know a fellow RCNT'r, olds97_lss, that's had to use a similar adapter for his OS .21 RGX.

233220 is the part #

This is a clutch nut adapter. Use this to secure the flywheel, therefor adding the pilot shaft needed for your new clutchbell. I think there's a little grinding involved, that's the downside - no UnDo.

yeah but will it fit on an 18? and can i change the crankshafts ?? to a longer1??

Ever try and help someone fix their computer over the phone?
It's very difficult. Solving your problem would be easier with some pics but let's not get into how to post a pic right now. You've made a good start by coming here. If you have a LHS (local hobby store) close by, take it in and get their spin on things. By the sounds of it you spent a fair amount of $$$ and buying something else to fix your problem might be difficult to do. The guys in here will give you good advice but sometimes that advice is lost in translation when all we have are written words and no pictures. The more specific you can be the better the help will be.

LOL at militarymaxx, great reply.

MaxiMumST.2002 needs a clutch nut for his engine. That is an easy solution. The hard part of that solution is finding the right one that will fit. I have sent Team Orion a request for some suggestions. We'll see what they have to say.

In the meantime, you might try to visit the LHS and see if they can hook you up. Go in with your RC and your new engine. Tell them you need a clutch nut with pilot shaft adapter for your new engine and see if they can hook you up.

I'll post the response from Team Orion when it arrives.

Traxxas does make an adapter for non-pilot shaft engines. I used it on my maxx when I tried an OS 15 cv-r(x) with a threaded shaft. I had to cut off some of the shaft and put the adapter on. The clutch bell bearings rode on the adapter and the adapter head on the flywheel.

Again, this was a part from traxxas that my LHS guy recommended when I bought the engine. Here's a link: http://h1070040.hobbyshopnow.com/products/description.asp?prod=TRA4144

This was used on a .15. I think the diameter is the same for a .18, but not 100% sure.
