I have a new emaxx and was wondering what brushless system I should use? I want a high quality system that can go in the mid 40's mph using 4cell maxamp 6000mah lipo. I thought about novak but I don't know what to get 4.5 or the 6.5 or any other system you recommend. I was going to get the mamba monster system but it will be another month to a month and a half before they are ready. Any recommandations would be nice.

I run the Novak HV 6.5 and it has enough power to flip the truck upside down by just blipping the throttle. I like it alot.

flm Savage has the 6.5 in an E-Savage, which is a similar truck to the E-Maxx, and he says he's getting in the 40s, and hell of a long run time. I bought the Novak 4.5 because I'm building an all out balls to the wall revo conversion, and I didn't want to skimp on the power. However, if I was buying it for an E-Maxx, I would definitely buy the Novak 6.5 because it's powerful, yet gets much better run time. I've heard reports of the 6.5 getting almost twice the run time in the 1/8 buggies. When I buy a system for my E-Revo in a few months, it will be the Novak 6.5. I like the programming capability of the mamba systems, but the motors don't compare to the Novak sensored motors, and I think the sensor will be really nice in a basher. Also, the new Novak HV Pro systems have an upgraded ESC from the HV Maxx, and they offer a lot more programming capability, without the need for a computer. I would reccomend the 6.5 because the run time as well as cooler operating temps will make for a much better basher.

Every place is out of the novak and I burn up the motors today and need a brushless system. I want the mamba but it will take so long. Does any one have any other options?

Joe at East End Machining can get you the Novak system, he got one for me before they were even on the market at the big stores. It will probably take about a week to get it to you. I'll send you his information.

unless you gearing is way out of whack then yes. i run a 66/17 combo with the Novak 6.5HV and a pair of Maxamps 2S 8000HV lipo's. I have run for around 25 minutes before and only dropped half a volt. The 6.5 is a perfect balance for me. Its not so fast that all i can do is hsr's, it has enough torque to flip the truck over easily, and can pop wheelies on command. I don't even have a full battery pack through it yet and i am already down one rear driveshaft. I would certainly recomend the 6.5 I run a 3.5R velociti series on my TC5 and its just too fast. i MIGHT use 20-30% throttle.

I found a novak hv pro 6.5 from rcplant.com and bought it with a 16 tooth pinion. They have about 7 more in stock if any body wants one.:ahh:

I am not sure, but I have the older 6.5 system and you have to use 12 or 13 tooth pinion. and if you go with larger tires then stock you will need to go even smaller...

I'm sure the battery choice will affect gearing too, that's why I couldn't give a straight answer, because there are so many different combinations that I found with different gearing when I tried to look it up.

flm savage was using a 17/66 combo and the motor was cool after 25 minutes of running so I think it should be fine. Novak gives 12 tooth as a baseline.

the HUGE heatsink makes a big difference. I am running a 15t on my mamba powered firestorm and it still gets hotter than i want. (150ish)

Will the novak 5mm pinions work on my emaxx? If not where do I get a pinion that will work? The novak pinionis a mod1 and my emaxx is a mod 0.8
