Well I picked up an emaxx today and the batteries that came with look pretty rough. Anyways, I got to looking into batteries and got a little lost. I understand through RR's help that the higher the mah the longer they last. So I started looking them up and found some that was GP or IB. I understand the GP is really good but how so and what does GP stand for? The same questions on IB and are they good? I'm not really looking to sink a ton of money into them since I want two sets also.

The next thing I was wondering about is a charger. All these chargers and battery packs are adding up real quick around my wall outlets. I ran across some where that Traxxas made/makes a twin charger for the emaxx. Is this charger any good and does anyone have an idea on how long it would take to charger two batteries on it? Just looking to cut down on stuff taking up space but still get a few things charged at once ;)

Thanks for the help and advice!

Ray, you are right, GP and IB are two different types of batteries. I use GP cells but I cannot remember the logic behind it other than they might have been cheaper. Someone here can give you a better answer, I am sure.

AS to chargers, forget the Traxxas one. The new MRC 977, or the recently discontinued 969 Pro if you can find one sitting on the shelf at your LHS, charger can handle charging multiple packs. You are now at the stage where a investment in one good charger will pay off well.

Nah, I'm at that stage where my wife needs to hide the Credit card lol

Anyways, I got my eye on a set of 4000mah batteries from maxpower right now but they don't say if they're GP or IB's :ponder2: I'll look into one of those chargers as well. I mean between the easy starters, Revo and Emaxx packs, I'll need a row of outlets installed lol

Well I'm off to see how bad I can screw up the Revo changing or adding front diff oil :wasted:It took about 10 minutes to get to but will probaly take an hour trying to remember how it goes back together :8-0:

Thanks
Ray

GP stands for GoldPeak. Goldpeak cells are very good in general I have purchased two cases of them(sub C 3300)and two dozen 1100 for 1/18th cars/trucks.

The have a very low resistance and can discharge at very high rates. The lower theb resistance the less the cells will heat under a given load. And the less heat the longer they will last and the current delivery will be smooth over the range.

So far I have not tried IB but can tell you with a 100% confidence GP cells are among the very best.Used by world champs, from on road racing to electric drag racing.

As for chargers I use a Triton and a IntelliPeak Ice,two great chargers priced within reason. As with chargers you can spend much more but then you are into hard core racing and extracting the last drops out of cells.

For 90% of serious users a Triton or Intellipeak Ice will be great choices.

So that means you probaly got extras laying around there uh :ponder2: j/k So are you a dealer or just a hard core R/C guy? Now on a some what serious note, is there much of a savings on building your own sticks vs buying pre-mades? Also is a 6 cell ok for general bashing with an emaxx or should I run a 7cell?

Thanks for the info
