The Emaxx seems to be having some shifting gear issues. The truck tends to grind first gear. It hauls butt in second gear but takes forever to shift gears. You can get it to run smooth by disconnecting the servo and manualy sticking it in second gear. I'm wondering if the servo is getting weak and needs replaced? Now it does move when you first cut the power on and will shift gears driving it....but real late. I also pulled the gear box a part to inspect it as I do yearly. Everything seemed just fine.

Thanks
Ray

Sounds like your servo could be getting weak. I would check the linkage first, to make sure it's all in alignment. If it checks out, then the servo is the only possible fault.

Ya, I thought about that also, it looks pretty aligned to me. Do you have an idea what would be a nice replacement servo? I'm also about to install a Novak Brushless system if that matters.

Since you don't need a lot of torque, you could easily get away with a Hitec 303 (if you can still get them), or even the throttle servo off of an Associated MGT. On my Savages' reverse module, I use an Airtronics 94102 that I resurrected from the dead (reassembled from parts and resoldered the thing back together). It's more than enough to move the lever.

Yeah, I second that... you don't need much. In fact I keep a few old traxxas servos around just for the purpose.

Hey thanks guys. I figured I didn't need much for what it does but wanted to double check. Ummm...there isn't much of the original truck left lol. The TX/RX, chassis, gear box, diffs, and one 550 motor. That list will shrink a little once I install my Brushless. I may want to buy my son another Emaxx and keep this one for my self lol .

Have fun with this! I just got finished with a BL Emaxx conversion... I hope to fire this baby up this weekend. Good luck!

I think their about 25mph stock...BL anywheres from 30-50mph. Now even though 25 sounds slow, they're still faster than your typical Wal-mart RC truck. Also, I'm not sure if the Novak BL will reach past 40mph. That will probaly require more upgrades and a better BL motor/ESC.
