Ok i am in a dilemma. I am currently building my SCX hybrid and now i am starting rethink my motor for the rig.

I have the holmes hobbies 14T cobalt puller mounted in it right now but I don't believe it going to make enough rpm even on 6S for what i want. I am now looking to go with a brushless motor instead. I still want to be able to crawl with it and with a the summit tranny, 6S, and a 9T pinion coupled to a 68T spur, i think its very doable. My main concern now is current draw. The truck is relatively light when compared to anything 1/8th so that leads me to believe i will have a much lower current draw than other rigs.

My batteries are a pair of hyperion G3 CX 2100mah/25C 3S lipos and i want to run them in series.

I was thinking about a NEU 1700kv or maybe even a NEU 2200.

ESC is a mamba monster.

DISCUSS!

well i called up chipster and talked with him about it. He got me thinking that maybe i am veering off the course for what i originally wanted this truck to do. At its core, its a trail truck that will be crawling around a heck of alot more than it will be scooting around on pavement.

That being said, with a top speed of around 15mph WIDE open on 6S that may really be as fast as i want a trail truck going.

I don't think i can match the "crawl-ability" of a puller motor and i really don't want to sacrifice my low speed control for a higher top end.

Maybe i was getting a little speed bug in me. lol. I am going to run the truck with the mamba monster/14T/6S this week and see how i like it

Id try to stick with what you have rather than going to brushless. If you went brushless on 6s, I would think trying to get any low speed control for crawling would just end up cogging. Maybe not though but Id stick with the puller.

i need to turn 1733 rpm in HIGH gear to get 1mph. I am sure it would crawl like a champ no matter what motor i put in it.
