I have 12 tanks thru the P5X now. It has lossened up quite a bit and I have tuned it. Awesome engine!!!

I couple of questions....

1. I think I have done a fairly good job of tuning with plenty of smoke under throttle and snappy off the line. HOWEVER, if I let it idle for more then 15 seconds or so it loads up a little and bogs initially when throttleing it.

Is this a case of the LSN being too rich, or is this common and normal?

2. What is the best way to clean the air filter? What products should I clean it with?

Thanks, Donovan

P.S. The body is back from the paint shop and all I need to do is cut it out and add decals. Then I need to put the off-road tires on and find me a track and learn how to jump it without turning it into a cartwheeling buggy.

Its normal to bog after idleing for more than a few seconds. If you need to have your car sit still while you run to a driving stand or something, blip the throttle slightly every 2-3 seconds, just enough to keep the engine from loading up.

To clean the air filter, I use a cleaner called Oil Eater or dish soap. Rinse thoroughly with hot water and blot dry with paper towel. Let it sit overnight to dry out or if I'm in a rush hit it with a hair dryer so it is completely dry. Throw it in a baggie and add a few drops of air filter oil and move the oil around so it completely covers the foam.

To cut down on cleaning time, I usually have 4-5 foams ready to use at all times. I switch them out every 5-6 tanks and once they are all dirty I do a one time clean up.

I do same as SD. Dish soap, then keep 2-3 in a zip lock oiled up and ready to go. This way if I have to change when I'm out bashing, the dirty one goes into another ziplock to be cleaned when i get back home, and a clean one goes on the ride. No down time.

I might clean em once.....never a second time...I give em to the other guys just starting out after the second use...I run about 1 quart through em before swapping it......

imo i never wash the inner filter, i would only reuse the prefilter if necessary. RB concepts sells 10 filter sets in a pack pretty cheap so i dont take the chance or waste time with washing them, just stick a new one on.
