ok I can't seem to get these natiz e-clips in place! Is their a special way I should be doing this? someone please tell me how to put e-clips on without slicing my hand opened.

Exactly, just lay it in the groove and then squeeze the back of the clip againts to pin and they clip right on. The thinner the plyers, the easier it is.

Get a small pair of needle nose pliers.
Set the clip so it touches the part its being clipped to. Make sure its lined up with the groove its going into. Place one part of the pliers on the clip and the other on the opposite side of the part its going on to and gently squeeze.

You can also use the end of a flathead screw driver to push the clip on.

Fact:
There are 2 sides to an e-clip. Don't put it on backward.

E-clips are stamped out of a sheet of metal. One side of the clip will have smooth rounded edges and the other side will be sharp on the edges. Place the smooth edge against the moving part.

If you put them on wrong they have a better chance of coming off.

^^^^^ That last part of your post makes alot of sence now. I kept loosing the damn things. I just never paid any attention on how I put them on. Thanks!

He posted this once upon a time, long long ago. Ever since I knew there was a front and a back to an e-clip i have never lost another one.

lol who would have thought that a stupid little e-clip could give so many problems, and yes it does help to know there i a front and rear to an e-clip

on the e-clips after you do get them on....cover them with a little hot glue....keeps them from coming off till you want them to....tip trick of the day....lol

My problem with them is more getting them off than getting them on.

BTW, I knew someone was going to mention the Xray not having them. :)

Getting them off is easy.
Just drive your RC for a while :p:

I just grab it with a needle nose and twist.
Traxxas makes a good E-Clip and sells them by the bag full.
Its best to replace them every time you take one off.
I feel the same way about ball ends. Their cheep but if they fail you will end up regretting not spending a cents on new ones.

i replace mine when i pop em off, usually because they fly into some sort of twilight zone never to be seen again. you can use a small jewlers screwdriver or a small pick to pry them off.

i use shoe-goo to help hold them on in long mains. even when you put them on the right way it only takes one bump from another car to easily knock them off.

one drop of red loc-tite..

i wont say it doesn't work, because i havent tried it. however this is not how locktite works. your applying it as a glue, and thats not what locktite is. when you use locktite on a screw and put it into the mating part. as the locktite dries it expands into all gaps between the threads of the mating parts. it actually crystalizes and digs into the parts a little bit. the grade of locktite depends on how aggressive it is when it dries. you will find better perfomance from a flexable adhesive like shoe goo or some epoxys.

I have never had a problem with e-c;ips falling off. Or not that i know of anyways, lol.

I'm sure using glues work to help keep them in however I don't like doing that. Everything has pros and cons. I don't just put my RCs together and leave them that way. I take them apart and inspect them after every use. Having to clean the groves out with the roto tool or a blade every time I took it apart wouldn't be worth it to me.

OK While I was making this post I went to the **Reading room and while sitting on the Kings Chair (This is its own story in itself) where I do my best thinking a thought came to me;

Why even use e-clips?
Snap rings will do a better job.
Replace all your e-clips with snap rings and this issue is null and void. Installation and removal issues will be taken care of with snap ring pliers. Having them fall off would be a thing of the past as well.

WOW! I should be nominated for the RC innovation award of the year.

Good thought, I didn't even know what they were until we bought our Mugens. I had never seen them before. I think it will work, the part I am not good at/will not spend the time is putting the kit together. Screw learning all those sizes and putting togther whole kits for my vehicle(s). I guess this is why bearing kit companies and scxrew companies make extra dough off people like me, we are lazy. Now make me a kit Ed!

99% of all the e-clips on RCs are the same size.
One of the exceptions is for the clutch bell.
I just need to find someone that sells them.
