Hi, I just joined the forum, i have been building and flying camera and FPV drones for a few years now. Trying out the RC Monster Truck now, i had a few cheap ones from Amazon, I final committed and got a new traxxas 1/16 mini e-revo. I did a lot of upgrades up front before even driving the car. Change out control arms, center diff and suspension links. Adjusted the toe and camber, but the rear suspension is lower than the front, is that normal..

Welcome to RCT. That is fine to have the rear lower but, you can adjust the preload on the rear shock springs, so the chassis sits up higher? Does it have some clips on the shocks or a threaded collar on the shock?

i have already moved the threaded ring to make spring lengths 3/4” as recommended on YouTube, maybe i should take some of the preload off the front, your thoughts? Oh, and thank you for replying, it is appreciated.

Welcome to RCTALK.COM!!! 👍😎😁

How does the suspension feel when you compress and release it? I adjust suspension based on how it feels rather than by a suggested setting. Less preload in front or more in rear would prob be where I would start too.
Don't believe everything you see on youtube. 😉👍

The front set about 5/8 of a. Inch high than the back, the front seems to bounce back faster. I did refill shocks with 40 weight oil, I pulled them off when I put new RPM parts in, and two of them I could feel the air in them, them seem fine after I added oil.

Can you post a picture on this forum? I also added quite a bit of aluminum parts to the suspension. I did get gauges for camber, toeand height, but know one seem to know specific specs fit the car. They just say negative camber and some toe in dor back and front. I really should set down and read manual.

Ok. Preload right now. Maybe it just me. Dint know if you can see it, it's like back shocks are just not coming back. Could it be with all the new parts in the suspension I need take it out for some run to loose up

Why i put 40 weight, AI answer. For a stock 1/16 scale Traxxas Mini E-Revo, the recommended shock oil weight is 30-weight. However, users often upgrade to a heavier oil like 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, or 100-weight for improved performance and reduced chassis roll.

They sell upgraded springs; they list them as green, black, and purple, but I don't see a description of which ones are stiffer. I'm going to do some research. But I will reduce the preload on the front like you said and run it for a few batteries tomorrow. I am new, so I am in training mode. I will let you know how it works out, but I will also check the oil in the shock, as you recommended. They were low before. Was it a leak or a factory error? We will see. I did all the upgrades. Recommended on YouTube, which was probably my bad, resulting in wasted money. Found the diffs with very little oil in them. Thanks for working with me. My wife ordered a Maxx for my birthday. I am a retired military veteran in my late 60s, trying to keep busy. I enjoy the complete teardown and rebuild. Hope I am going down the right road with Traxxas. I'll give you a break for now. Thank you so much.

Post #9 is the shock rates.
