my LHS tells me not to use blue thunder fuel in my car because they say it has a low oil percentage or something like that. they say that it is only good for cleaning metal parts on the car. they say that the "ZX-7 lubricant" that they use is not good and it makes my motor overheat. i have a traxxas trx.15 motor in my 4-tec. and i ran out of this fuel that he tells me to use. he tells me to use S&W fuel. i have never heard of it before but it seems to be very high quality fuel. works good in my car. anyway, is it ok to use blue thunder in my 4-tec or will it damage my motor.

I use blue thunder and I have never ever had a problem I have never heard of S&W fuel. If u do get some remember to use the same nitro % so if u normaly run 20 them stay with 20 also if u switch run about 3 tanks through your engine as if u were breaking it in so the engine can adjust to the way the fuel burns.just take it easy for a bit then retune and your off

I ran blue thunder, but like you, it ran hot. Some guys like the "smurf juice" some don't. I don't think it damaged my engines, but it impregnated the inside of the engine with a blue tint. I guess whatevers in the fuel penetrates the metal ;)

I run blue thunder too, and love it. Havnt had any probs either..

I ran it in my maxxes until I switched to 30% fuel.....and then for some reason I switched to O'donnels & white lightning

Had no problems w/ it...in fact my LHS says quite the opposite about blue thunder....they say the race formula is one of the best fuels you can buy...

I have run the "smurf juice" in my engines for almost three years now. In fact, I have four gallons of it in my living room waiting for a time when I can take the buggies out to run them.

My engines have never run hot, and have not suffered from using this fuel. In fact, I'd say my engines run a bit on the cool side.

The TRX Pro .15 engine that you are running is infamous for being a very hot running engine. So the fuel is most likely not the issue if your engine is a hot runner. It could be a contributing factor, but more than likely the engine is just doing what every other TRX Pro .15 does.

As for your LHS, please tell me it is a small mom and pop type hobby shop and not a HobbyTown USA.

lol... my hobby shop is infested with old people that are fixated on the concept of " i think this is the best so it is...". thanks for your help guys. i ran my car through blue thunder this afternoon. i had to run my carb a bit richer. but it worked great.

LOL, most "old" people can't accept change no matter what. I deal with it daily at work.

I was running wildcat 20/14 in an old OS CZ .12 and I was hitting 250-265 degrees, without changing a thing on the carb I Grabbed a quart of Blue Thunder 20 to try and it dropped my temp to flat 200. I used to use Byrons but too much leftovers, I like the Blue!
