ok, i have my diratrax temp meter... i tested it on a frosty beer... right against the can it said 43 degrees (i use farenhite) then i move it back approximitly 2-3 inches, and the temp jumps to like 53 (10 full degrees) what is the most consistant way to use a temp gun???

second, my friend gave me a glow plug... i have no idea what kind or temp it is, but most imporntantly i dont know what temp and "long or turbo" means, or if it even matters... the glow plug says R3 on the side, its silve, and the top where the igniter connects is coper colored, with a round ball at the top.

any help is appreaciated.. I'm getting a violater today or tomarrow in the mail, and i need to know what kinda plugs to get.

The cheaper temp guns tend to have a limited focus ratio. They are most accurate a within a range of a couple of inches from the surface being measured. Also, they tend to be calibrated for dark, matt surfaces and will be much less accurate when used to measure the temperature of a light, shiny surface like polished metal.

The R3 plug that you have is a medium heat range plug. This would be OK for a small block engine or a large block engine running 20% nitro or less. For a .21 running 25% nitro you want a cold plug like a NovaRossi 6 and for a .21 running 30% nitro you want an even colder plug like a NovaRossi 7.

Turbo plugs have a tapered thread and do not require a copper sealing washer. They are generally considered to provide a better seal than standard plugs. Note that turbo and standard plugs are not interchangeable - they require a matching head button.

Most car engines use long plugs. Short plugs are often found in aero engines.

ok, I'm running a big .26 with 30%... what is a good glo plug

Is it turbo or standard head button....if it's standard try OS -5 for hot days and OS #8 for cooler days...drop your nitro % to 25 and your engine will last longer and still have the power that 30% gives......For turbo heads I use the Dynamite turbo plugs.....good plug less expensive than others and mine last a long time....

well, i can't exactly put water in my 30% gallon of fuel... I'm hoping the .26 dosent last long anywayse, as i have my sights set on the new 3.1hp .27 from ofna.

If you are just looking forward for the engine to die, why not flea bay it to someone who wants it, and use the money to get the engine you actually want?

well you can mix a gallon of 20% and a gallon of 30% and get 25%.....and don't be a smart ass to someone trying to give some helpful tips....Or I'll send gremlins to pour water in your gallon of 30%....
