like the title says i want to get verizon DSL but my phone company is IDT do i have to be apart of verizon telephone service to get DSL? someone please LMK.also when i get DSL thats an ISP right? so i can cancel my AOL?

I can't believe people are still allowing themselves to get ripped off by AOL.
I have my DSL through my phone company, Bell South. I had hi-speed cable for the last 3 years through Comcast, and was not happy with the speed at all. With DSL, at less than half the price, I actually have better speed. Go figure.
And yes, DUMP AOL
You'll have Email with the DSL service.

so i can get DSL even though IDT is my phone service provider.I'm gonna throw AOL into the east river and call Verizon on tuesday... i hope its available in my area.
DAM i just checked Verizon website and DSL aint available in my area.. you guys know of any other broadband provider in New York thats not too much more than dsl or around that area?

A friend just switched to DSL, I'll drop him an Email and see what he got.

rolex,/M your friend i figured out why, it wasn't available on my line because i have IDT i checked my neighbors phone number and she can get it i dont understand why they can't reach the DSL lines a few more feet LOL. my mom should be calling in sometime this week to switch back to verizon.. unlimited local-long distance wiht idt is cheaper thats why we switched in the first place, thanks for all your help. wait a second did you help me?LOL

That's the deal I have. DSL is a real bargain if you have the unlimited long distance, and since 99% of my calls are to New York I already had that.

I don't know what IDT is. I'm not living in New York now. I'm also waiting for a reply from a friend up there to find out what DSL is available in your area.

Just got the info for you:
Optimum on line if you have CableVision in that area. Verizon and AT&T requires their phone service for DSL.
