does the clutch shoe size matter?

I'm repacing the flywheel on my rs4 wiht a lighter one and i also want to put new clutch shoes on for the time because the hobby shop didnt have the race clutch. the new shoes i bought are about 1/4 inch longer other than that theyre the same. would it make a difference performance wise?

It might have a little more grip but the thing you have to worry about is the shoes rubbing when the engine is at idle.

I agree...if the shoes are too long, they might not close all the way down. Your clutch bell could drag. You could always cut the length to match your old ones.

If they do fit without modifying, did they come with their own spring? If not, you may experiance earlier engagement due to the extra weight using the old spring.

they didnt come wiht no springs jst about 3 bucks wasted i used the old ones and they fit fine. i should have the nitro race clutch soon anyway.

It's not the fit that I'd be concerned about, it's the strength of the spring. Hope it works out for you though.

If the face of the show is longer that means more surface is touching the bell so i guess it would be better. Same princable as wider tires. Thats my answer but I've been wrong before.
