So I just restored / upgraded an ole RC10T4. I put a newer brushless combo in it, fixed anything broke on it. And upgraded the front hubs and axles to have the bearing in the hub vs in the wheel like the original, by doing this also allows me to run the current hex wheels being made and not having to look for the old school wheels that have the bearing in them

I hate to say it but the only thing I run that's vintage is my drawers! 🤣
I was a late bloomer and have only been doing surface rc's for a couple of years. 🤷‍♂️

My oldest RC is a Traxxas Stampede (2WD). I get it down and run it once or twice a year.
Next up would be my Associated RC-18 MT, but it doesn't get out much at all.

I have an og rc18b that I upgraded to brushless ..... holy begezus is It fast ..... now I have been searching high and low for the steering /servo saver in aluminum because I keep breaking the ball stud eyes out .... lol

looks clean!
mostly all my rcs are probably considered vintage
OG MGT (.21) 2003ish, RC10GT 1999ish, Losi LST 2003-4, Duratrax Street ForceGP 2003? Duratrax Nitro evader 2002ish, and some others.
havent ran them this last year really at all though sadly.

Whats classified as vintage?
I've got an old Traxxas 1/10 Nitro sport but the .15 engine is cooked, so I'm not running it. I think mine is the 2001 or 2003 release but the og was released in 1997.

Not original tyres and body

My oldest is probably my rustler even though it's more of a modern one, but the name goes back to the 90s.

My uncle still has (I think) his Losi XXT somewhere in his house begging for a rebuild and clean up.

My local dirt track runs vintage class once in a while. One of my buddies races a XXXT. Loads of vintage rc10s and Tamiyas in that class. Probably have a few videos on my YouTube channel: Bomb Pop RC

I'm sure your right, as mine has the blue head. From what I've seen on the interweb, the earlier ones were not anodised.

That red body in the photo above, is not the original body. Mine came with the blue one, like this ⬇️. I still have it somewhere.

I noticed. That had me lost but figured it was swapped. The late 90s nitros had them but those chassis were tannish brown.

Both of mine were red and I regret destroying them and throwing the box away. I have a new silver head for tge image .12 somewhere.

I upgraded the Radio and ESC in my RC18 MT, Hobbywing QuicRun 1025, and a Spektrum radio that came out of one of my ill fated 3S Arrmas.

So, what's considered "vintage" in the RC world? 15+ years? 20+ years?

Pretty sure they've only been around since the 60's.
If you go to a track then I guess 10 year old stuff would already be called vintage. Outside of that, I'd say 20+ years...
