I accidentally broke one of the stock rubber body pin retainers while trying to pull the pins out over the weekend. I decided to forego them and make my own. I took 550 Paracord and removed the inner cords, then tied it into a loop and fused the ends. It's definitely not going to break, and is a much better handle to pull the pins out. Has anyone else done something like this?

back in the day we used to use zip ties and fuel tubing to make little pulls. put the zip tie on the body clip. slip some fuel tubing over the tail. put another zip tie on the end to cap it. then cut the tails off. and sense they make fuel tubing in numerous colors you could easily customize to match your paint job.
most of my inner circle abended the idea after we realized they made it easier for the ground to pull the clips out. we spent more time looking for the damn clips than we did fiddling with getting the body on/off. the plus side was the pulls made them easier to find after they were pulled out. so i guess pick your poison.

another trick we used to do was tether the clips to the body with fishing line. tie one end around the body clip. run it through the body post hole, under the body, out the opposite side hole and tie the other end to the other body clip. it kind of aided in pulling the clips. but kept them from getting lost. i have my SC10 set up that way right now because for some reason it liked to loose body clips.

I glue a magnet to the inside of the body (usually the roof) , when ever I pull the pins, I stick them to the magnet, works like a charm.

That would have been great for the Ruckus, it was really easy to pull the pins. The Outcast has little indents where the posts stick up through the body for the pins to slot in, so it's hard to pull them out.
 
 
How durable are those tabs? I don't think I'd have an issue buying plenty, I think it would just be annoying to pull the pin out with pliers or a screwdriver frequently.

I haven't tried this particular brand, but the reviews are good. The ones I have use an aluminum pull tab. These make it much easier to remove the pins.

That's my question as well. If the pull tabs are the same, or close to, composite as what comes in Axial kits... they would be a good option. Another thing to consider, the thickness of the 1.2mm clip vs. what is used on your ride already. For most of my rides... the 1.2mm body clips won't cut it, but they would be perfect for my older 1/10 scale stadium trucks. 🤔:cool: :thumbs-up:

All my 1:8 offroad race rigs had paint matching fuel tube/zip pulls.

There was something oddly satisfying about the assembly process too...
