We've only got one track here and I have'nt really checked it out. There's not a whole lot of great bashing spots that I've found yet either. I just moved from T-town in May and was real busy with work for most of the summer.

Absolutely not! The only way would be in a rig that had never had fuel in it. Not to mention you can not travel with fuel, and if I m not mistaken you can't bring lipo packs any more either. Flying with any rc gear is going to be a pia, but nitro you can all but forget. Your best bet would be to ship it to someone you trust that will be driving to the bash, then have them ship it back.

How do the RC pros travel with their gear? I imagine you should be able to pack your nitro rig and lipo packs and check it as baggage on the plane.

I guess I am lucky in one aspect: While my job sucks it does allow me to carry two of my rigs so I will be ready in any event.

If we get a consensus we need to start a new thread to continue on with the plans. Just a thought...

Then you could come to michigan, make a stop, pick up savon, and then go where you need too :hehe::hehe::p:

I'd rather be in Tulsa! I'm hoping to see this bash happen in MO but I have'nt heard whats up there.

If I'm not mistaken Lessen said there is a big pro track somewhere abouts in Ohio.

Ask McVickj, when he came to the orlando bash they would not allow him on the plane with his engine because it had fuel in it at one point. Even though it was empty and cleaned the scanners still pick up traces of fuel, and they would not let him bring it, it's a fact. The battery thing I am unsure of it's something I had heard, you might want to call the airlines on that one.

I just wanted to mention it, I don't want to see someone drop a bunch of money on a plane ticket, and show up at the airport to be turned away or told they are not going to allow the rc on the plane..

When I went to visit my parents in Florida I wanted to bring some gator meat back with me. But since it was not packed in a specific way, in a specific container they would not let me bring it on the plane. I had a hard time with that, anything with fuel residue is going to be a nightmare.

When ImBroken came to Florida for the HPI Challenge, he just shipped his stuff to me, and after the challenge I shipped it back for him.

St. louis or Springfield would be about as good as we are going to get on this I fear. Anyone from that area?

Springfield Mo? You guys are talking close to me but I haven't spent much time around there to know where stuff is. I know spingfield doesn't have a lot for family, there is a nice ride thru cave tour, indoor nature exhibit at the BassPro shop and drive thru animal safari east of town. Early September I think is when they have the 4-Wheel Jamborie at the fairgrounds.

Regardless of where, I'd try to make it to an event like this!

If we're gonna get anywhere with this we're gonna need to start with polls. Let's make them open too so we can see who's would like what.

First is location by region... options such as South, East Coast, Midwest and West Coast should give us an idea of who's willing to go where... Poll should probably allow multiple decisions obviously.

Ah, but Branson is really close to Springfield--thus why I added it as a suggestion...

Agreed, let me get the ball rolling.

edit:

Done, poll open to vote for region. Vote now!

Hrm. I've got family in MO but more towards St. Louis side. I might be able to swing that. Though I suggested/seconded the Dallas area only because my company is setting up the Whitehats Security conference in Dallas/Ft. Worth and I could kill 2 birds with one stone. bashing & on-site assessment of facilities for the conference planning. :)

Region is set.. time to brainstorm the nearest big city

Alright fellas. The region of the country has been set and Sweetdiesel and myself agree that a Midwest location makes the most sense from the feedback we've gotten so far. Now it's time to narrow down a general location based on the nearest big city. I think it's important that we are all on the same page of what "Midwest" is.

Generally speaking, these are the states that are considered to be midwest.

Illinois
Indiana
Iowa
Kansas
Michigan
Minnesota
Missouri
Nebraska
The Dakotas
Ohio
Wisconsin

However, I believe we can rule out a number of these based on their general location respective to most of us and possibly add a couple area that make sense.

This is the list of states I believe would host a nice bash with respect to everybody's location.

Kansas
Missouri
Illinois
Indiana
maybe western Kentucky/Tennesee
maybe mid/southern Ohio

So basically let's brainstorm about the larger cities in these areas.

Personally, I think Missouri or Illinois are the places to be for this. Kansas city and St. Louis are my picks.

Once we get some good input we will do another Poll for nearest big city.
