Of the midwestern states listed, which of them have premium RC tracks and also points of interests such as amusement parks, casinos, etc?

I'm leaning towards Ohio or Kentucky because it will enable the wife to visit her best friend in Lexington. Also, I would love to check out Cedar Point Amusement Park and ride some coasters.

Ok. I think this is where we are going to find out who is REALLY serious about coming. Let's get some real support for our opinions here. I like missouri mostly due the location. It's a fair distance from all regions. I also believe that dirt oval racing is real big out there so there is a good chance there may be a lot of opportunities for possible sites to host this. I can't tell you exactly why right now but K.C. and St. Louis just strike me as fun cities. I will look more into these two locations this weekend.

I agree that Ohio is somewhat far for the southerners and especially the west coast boys.

right now we really need some solid input if we are going to continue to move forward with this.

I'm just hopin it is somewhere i can drive too and ohio is a few day driving trip.....kentucky is not that bad..gotta find somewhere tho where they have other things like sweet diesel said

lol and driving in snow is not my thing lol

I know there'e a few guys from MO on here! I'm for 1 really looking forward to seeing this thing happen and meeting some of you. I've driven through Kansas and Missouri but I don't really know whats there.

Lessen, If there's anything I can do to help, just let me know. That goes for anyone serious about this thing. I'm not doing anything but sitting at home twiddling my thumbs right now.lol:\

lol its like 30 degrees outside and I'm like freezin i went outside to drive the jammin and i had to come in it was way to cold

If it's held in the St. Louis area I will definitely come. I have lots of family in the area and would be able to go visit my grandparent's graves down in Lake of the Ozarks... it's an easy sell to my wife :)

Well that sounds great Amoeba! I'm definately going to look into what all St. Louis has to offer.

A possible facility... Greentree R/C Raceway

Located in Kirkwood, MO. 30 minutes from Downtown St. Louis. I would suggest the months of August or September for the best possibility of clear days and comfortable temps. 80's in Aug., 70's in Sept. That's a 30 year average. Looks like July see's a little more rain but temps similar to Aug. Earlier than that and the rain probability increases. You guys can check it out for yourself and tell me what you think.. http://www.diurnal.microclimates.org/JUL.html

You guys are gonna like this part...

The track is open during park hours for public use from April to October except during organized racing events when the track is restricted to registered racers.

Of course, being a public park alcohol is a big no-no but I'm sure we can all meet up at a local pub or downtown in the evening anyways.

All I would need to do is contact Dirtburners and make sure there are no special events or maintenance being done when we plan to be there. Eazy peazy!

Thanks for all the research into St. Louis Josh. The track looks SWEET and plenty of things to do outside of RCs. It's only a 5 hour drive to Lexington so it looks like we'll be able to make this a family vacation.

Any other folks want to offer insight on locations? How many of you are still interested in getting together for the bash?

St. Louis looks GREAT! My company has a drop yard over in East St. Louis, IL and there is a truckstop in Fenton which is real close to Kirkwood so I would have a place to park my rig. I MAY have to bum a ride to some of the "night time" get togethers but other than that I am in!

Glad to see this taking shape! The track looks awesome of course we may have to remove some barriers for me. lmao
Cody, I'd be more than happy to tote you around since I no longer partake. Still like to have fun!

That will be cool, Charlie. I would very much be in your debt. All your unleaded beverages will be on me!

I must admit that is one HUGE track. Damn, makes my LHS' track look like a kiddie attraction...

My wife is already scoping out places to stay. I guess I officially have the green light. :)

If anybody would like to see the bash somewhere else please say so. Nothing is final. Dom and I want to be very thorough with the planning process. My personal opinion is St. Louis and it looks like we have 4 or 5 solid attendees there.

Depending on the actual date, St louis is good for me. You left out a couple of good things to do though, they have a great Zoo and Six flags right there a few mile west on I-44. They have a few good coasters there and a water park next door. I can vouch for the Science Museum, it's cool, and the Arch is cool. A lot of other family stuff I can't remember, it's been a few years since I was there.
