i need to know how low i am suppost to go i have home made discharger and my batterie pack is five 1.2 volt 2800 mil amp i would put the volt meter on and check the voltage but i dont know what voltage i am suppost to go down to ithink its 4.something if someone could help me it would be appreciated

Are these NiMH batteries? If so then you don't need to discharge the batteries ever just pop them on the charger whenever it suits you.

Are these NiCD batteries? If so then you need to discharge them completely every time before you charge them.

they are nimh i was told by hobby shop that i had to dischard once in a wild for maintenance

Nimh requires no discharging they are not like nicad which requires discharging to avoid memory effects on the cells. Nimah actually require that you keep a charge in them at all times cause if the cells are discharged and left to sit for a long time they will go bad.

NiCd has to be fully discharged since they develop a memory. NiMH are fine. No memory devlops from chargin/discharging.

I've been told that one too but I never followed it. I have multiple sets of NiMH batteries and have several hundred charges on them. I have yet to run them completely out of power nor have I cycled them.

If i was to get rechargable AA ni-cds for my controller i have to discharge them after every use? I have nimh packs for the cars.
